Hi,

I'm planning a month long trip around Europe next summer with my 10yr old daughter. I have a rough itinerary but wanted some advice as to the route i've mapped out and the best ways of getting to places.

so here are the places:

brussels
amsterdam
berlin
prague
vienna(day trip to budapest)
innsbruck
venice
rome (trip to pisa)
milan
zurich
munich
paris

I've put down a couple of days in each apart from Vienna and Rome, were I have put 3 days each. Are there any places in between these locations that I could add or swap around? I'm not too bothered about Milan. Also I was in 2 minds about the itinerary from milan. Will milan-munich-zurich-paris be better. or even Innsbruck-munich-venice etc be better.

Also, is it a bit too ambitious or is it possible?

Hi.
On Milan to Zurich use this route: https://rail.cc/en/train/milan-to-zurich
See as well the detailed blog report by Flow: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
Zurich to Munich is easy to do by day train and Munich to Paris by direct night train.
Have a look at the schedules: https://rail.cc/en
Peter :)

Hi Peter,

Thanks for that.

The plan has now changed a little.

So we are thinking of not going to prague, or maybe just for a day, have a walk around the main parts, and then from vienna go to Linz then salzburg and then to rome and work upwards. Is getting from salzburg to Rome going to be more hassle than going Vienna or Innsbruck?

Thank you

Kaajal

Hi.
I recommend to travel from Vienna to Rome by direct night train. As the German night train coming from Munich (you could enter for example in Innsbruck - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-rome-cnl-485/35), gets easily full. And it carries currently no seat only cars. You will have more luck with the Austrian one from Vienna to Rome: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/vienna-rome-en-235/92
Think about: Berlin - Prague - Munich - Salzburg - Vienna - Rome ...
Peter :)
