I spoke with a consultant on how i make seat reservations.
I was told that i need to book all my seat reservations at this company www.bahn.com
They said i need to plan all my stops ahead and buy seat reservations for every stop,
so i can pick up the tickets before i travel.
They said it was because i can't book online, and if i buy tickets i need to pick them up before i leave or in germany.
If i don't do that i can only book reservations over the phone and then they could send me the tickets to me as i go.
They also said it could take up to 7 working days, before i would receive the tickets.
Is this the only option? I thought i could take things easy, and plan as i travelled, with a bit of planning ahead.
Now i'm just really scared to get stranded somewhere, missing the train and having to wait 7 workings days for a new ticket.

Hi!
I fear you have spoke with a person not familiar with InterRail. :|
The standard way to get reservations still is to do so directly at a train station. There you can not only make domestic reservations but also for other countries (At least for neighbouring countries, for which countries you can make reservations depends from country to country. For instance I just got reservations from Budapest to Bar on this night train at my local train station in Austria: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/prague-bar-ec273-g1045/375 ).
Online reservations (for instance at rail.shop/acprail/reservation, for (night train) connections to/from/in Germany also via [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] ) are not available for all countries and all trains and are still quite and odd way to get reservations. Please note that reservations via rail.shop/acprail/reservation can be more expensive than directly at a station due to extra handling and postage fees. This is just an extra service, railcc does not earn anything by selling these reservations.
Anyway, you can start your IR trip without any extra reservations and just see where the journey takes you. Depending on your actual route you might need some reservations from time to time but you can get by without any reservation at all as well.

Be fair and buy your InterRail passes where you get all the information for your trip: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you. :)

Hi, in August I'll do my first interrail! So, if we want to book a night train it's easy to do in the train station? I try to explain better: can i book the seat on the night train only 2 days before and find a seat on the train? :|
Thank you!!!

Hi.
The standard way is to buy a seat reservation at a station. But you can never preview if a train is full or not. So for important parts of your trips with no alternative day train connections it is recommended to book a bit earlier in advance.
And please be fair and buy your Interrail pass on the recommended website [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] . Thank you! :)
Peter :)
