In the process of planning a Christmas trip to these two cities. We're arriving in Amsterdam on the 28th of December and then wanting to take a train to Brugge on the 30th of December, to spend New Years Eve there. A few questions for the kind people of railcc.

1. Firstly, do trains run at this time of year? Are there any holidays which might effect the trains?

2. What is the cheapest option to take? I've looked into Thalys, they seem to be the quickest, but are they the cheapest?

Obviously, I can't book anything until September as I can only book 3 months in advance, but I'm trying to get ahead of the game!

Many thanks!

Hi.

1) Yes, trains are ruining. If the day is public holiday, traffic is usually like on a Saturday and Sunday. But very frequent in Benelux.

2) Like you said, pre-booking time is up to three months.
For prices use the websites: [ux]https://rail.shop/nsinternational[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]
Please order via these links. For you the price is the same, but railcc gets a little commission to keep the servers running. Thank you! :)

thats not even Xmas-and even that day there will be hourly trains.
You should have stated AGE-as this makes a world of diff in getting low fares.
By now its way too early to do any booking-and all train times will also change in the big change early dec. Details to be expected around late oct/early dec.
Assuming you are the tipical newbee of <26: can do for likely the total fare of by train some 20€/single-but not in 1 ticket. For less as 10€ IF you use megabus till BRUssel and then the gopass1 for b-rail-only by web. IF older; they often did cheap Xmas time tickets from b-rail too, also for any NL station to any BE-29€ in 1st. cl. NO THalys then-only the local slower IC-trains with changes in Antwerpen and perhaps by then still somewhere in NL.
Other interesting, but slower route; take NS-IC train till VLISSSIngen-ev 30 mins, then FERRY to Breskens-hourly and then connectin bus Veolia/deLIJN-pay driver 5,50, all the way to Brugge. Takes about 2;30 for train+ same for ferry+bus.
