Hi guys,

I am going Madrid in a few weeks to work and my friends are flying to Barcelona where I will meet them. We are going to book our inter-rail ticket but still unsure about routes.

We have to start in Barcelona, from there I would like to get to Berlin without stopping in Paris as I found it to be expensive. We plan to do the 5 countries in 10 days and yes I know I have more than 5 countries.
We wish to stay a night in Berlin, then go to Krakow for a couple of nights and down to Prague for a few nights all which I have found easy enough to find train times. Then I wish to travel from Prague to Venice for a couple of hours then back on the train to Rome for a couple of days.

The problem I am having is from Rome to Greece as our last destination and a chance to chill out before flying back to Dublin/Belfast. What is the easiest way to get to Greece, I know there are a few ferries but is there any other way.

Any advice you guys can give me on what is the best way and cheapest option of doing all this would be great, as I have very little time to organise this !!

o)
Thanks :)

Hi!

First of all, I hope you are going to purchase your tickets through our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
:) If not, you should ask for help elsewhere. ;)

So...I think you will get in trouble a bit with a 5in10 for that route.

You want to do the following trips with InterRail, right?

Barcelona - Berlin
Berlin - Krakow
Krakow - Prague
Prague - Venice - Rome

Barcelona - Berlin is really a long way to go and will require two travel days. Do you mind paying extra for reservations or do you want to avoid them where possible?

Berlin - Krakow https://rail.cc/en/interrail/berlin-to-krakow
Krakow - Prague https://rail.cc/en/interrail/krakow-to-prague
Prague - Venice https://rail.cc/en/interrail/prague-to-venice
Venice - Rome https://rail.cc/en/interrail/venice-to-rome

You can see that you wont have much time in Venice if you want to travel Prague - Rome within just one day. If you want to use two travel days for this route you would have to cut Barcelona - Berlin to just one travel day. This would work, however you would have to buy a regular ticket up to the border station of Cerbère, from where you could use a night train and make use of the 1900 rule.

Oh, I forgot about the trip to Greece...well, this wont work with the 5in10. You should think of getting a 10in22 instead or check if regular tickets Rome - Ancona/Bari and ferry Ancona/Bari - Greece will be cheaper.
