Hey all,

So I've finalised the majority of the trip have some places booked and an idea of the rest of the places.

I need to be in Split however on the 17th August as I've now booked a trip from there for this date.

I booked this date as after researching the days of the night train it was on a Friday so was the 16th August.

However i'm really struggling to book this... I get onto the MAV START website and I am able to locate the correct train however it doesn't allow me to book it.

Has anyone else managed to book this train and it worked. I'm aware that I can't print the tickets out at home as these have to be picked up at one of the Hungarian train stations.

I really don't want to have to wait until I get there in case there are no spaces as we really need to leave on that specific train!!

Thanks in advance!!

Maz

Hi Maz,

as far as I know you cannot make online bookings for this train. You will have to try your luck and get a reservation at a station during your trip; as an alternative you can use the daytime train to Zagreb and then travel with the domestic night train to Split: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/budapest-to-split

Hey Flo,

Thanks for the reply.

Ekkkk I think i'll be cutting it a bit fine there! I guess if I wasn't able to reserve it I'd probably be ok getting a day train to Zagreb and a train from there. Will just limit my time in Budapest slightly.

Thanks again

Hey just an update I rang rail Europe and even they were not able to book this randomly. They said it kept changing that they could book for reservations only then it changed to with a ticket. I was at the point where I didn't care how it was booked as long as it was as we needed to be on that particular train to get into Split for the time we needed.
But it didn't even allow us to book the full price tickets .

So I had a think about it and I've now booked a flight ekkkk...
I thought for my peace of mind knowing it's booked it was worth the £81 for both of us.

It's only 45 mins to travel it. Should be pretty cool too along the coast.

Don't really like planes but hey ho!!
