Hi.
Buy your official Interrail pass via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you.
And especially in Eastern Europe it is much cheaper to buy a reservation at stations (like Flow explained) instead at a ticket outlet charging extra fees.

Hi Flo,
Thanks for your help :) I have one more question though: I have a journey from Budapest to Vienna which is just a normal day train, but I haven't been able to make a reservation on this one. Do you need a reservation on this train and if so can you again do it at a station in mainland Europe?
Thanks again!
Scott

Hi Scott.
I just split the topic as it is now more reservation than 19h-rule... :)
Have a look at the railcc schedules which you support with your Interrail pass purchase at railcc ([ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]). There you will find the details you need:
https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Budapest-Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/budapest-to-vienna
This direct Railjet (https://rail.cc/en/train-type/railjet-oebb/54) trains are free of reservations. They are usually 20 minutes before at the platform, ready to enter. You will usually easily find a seat being some minutes earlier. I travelled several times at peak time in summer - and always found a seat. So save your money! :)
If you want to buy a reservation, buy it in Budapest at the station.
Peter :)
