Hey Forum,

My friends and I are trying to arrange our first interrail trip and were thinking a 5 in 10 trip in early August but are having a hard time finding a good route. The order of the following cities doesn´t matter and we wouldn´t be against another stop or two along the way (since we have 2 extra days of travel left).

Athens/Thessaloniki*
Split/Dubrovnik*
Prague
Krakow

*In Greece and Croatia we would like to see both cities if possible but understand that certain cities are easier to get to and from so would be fine taking off one or the other.

Hopefully someone is a better travel planner than the three of us because after several hours of work we have not been able to come up with anything reasonable for these countries! Thank you all in advance!

Hi Jack.
It is a bit hard with a 5 in 10. If you want to do so, you should replace some parts with point to point tickets. But It think it is worth to spent more time one this route and add some more stops.

There is no international train traffic from Greece to other countries. You have to use a bus.
So you could save a travel day to get to Sofia: https://rail.cc/en/train/thessaloniki-to-sofia

Sofia - Belgrade: https://rail.cc/en/train/sofia-to-belgrade

Belgrade - Bar: https://rail.cc/en/train/belgrade-to-bar

Bar/Podgorica - Dubrovnik: by bus - https://rail.cc/en/train/podgorica-to-dubrovnik

Dubrovnik - Split: by bus - https://rail.cc/en/train/dubrovnik-to-split

Split - Prague:
first to Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/train/split-to-zagreb
then go on to Prague: https://rail.cc/en/train/zagreb-to-prague

Prague - Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/train/prague-to-krakow

But why not skip Croatia and travel for example this route: https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train//
Maybe adding the Black Sea (Varna) ?!

And if you like the information on railcc, please support us and buy your official Interrail pass in our partner: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you. :)
