Hi :) I'm going interrailing in July and I was wondering if anybody could help me with the Rome-Paris connection because its getting quite confusing.

I recently realised that the 1925 - 1018 does not count under the interrail pass and as such I would have to pay £85 for a separate ticket. Other than this route as far as I can tell there are only routes available that would take the whole day?

My question is are these my only two options? Or is it possible to get from Rome to Paris by a more indirect route that would still count on the interrail pass but not consume a whole day?

Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi.
You have these options: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/rome-to-paris
If you book the night train early in advance (not valid with Interrail) as a point to point ticket, you can get really good prices. You save the money for a hostel and you save one of your travel days. Think about it - and yes, it is a long travel, but it is as well a long distance! :)
Night train Rome-Paris as point to point ticket: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/rome-paris-en-206/9

IF you like the information on railcc support us with the purchase of your official Interrail pass via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Hi!

These are some options to travel Roma - Paris moreorless directly: https://rail.cc/en/train/rome-to-paris

Unfortunately both the direct night train (operated by Thello, who as you already noticed do not accept InterRail) and the Milano - Paris TGV service require high additional fees on top of the InterRail pass.
A cheap alternative would be to travel along the Mediterranean coast to Nice and then take the night train to Paris from there however this would take about 24 hours and need two travel days (in case you are using a Flexi Pass).

I would recommend to adapt your overall route and fit in a stopover somewhere along the route - either somewhere in Southern France around Nice or in Switzerland.
