So i've tried through the raileur*pe website, this website, the italia rail website and the tren italia website to book a reservation on the train from ventimiglia to milan on 24th July. I know the train runs but even when i change the date it always comes up as there are no trains to display.

Is it worth running the risk of not reserving this train and just turning up there and then? - bearing in mind we have hostels booked and can't really be delayed.

Can we reserve this when we get to ventimiglia (only got about 10 mintues to transfer though) or maybe even in nice beforehand?

If we were to get fined for not having any reservations how much would it be?

Would be grateful for any advice on this!

Our first time inter railing this summer and can't wait!

Hi!

I hope you have (or will do) purchased your InterRail tickets via our partner link to support our work, all the information and help us helping you. ;)
:arr: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux].

On 9 June the timetables throughout most of Europe change - not considerably in general, but there are some changes and adaptions here and there, nothing really to worry about. Anyway, Italian Railways are notoriously late with updating their new summer timetable and providing informations for schedule planners etc...that's why you do not find a train for 24 July now.

The train from Ventimiglia to Milano is an Intercity train without compulsory reservation! You can simply hop on the train if you want. However we recommend a seat reservation anyway to have a guaranteed seat and not having to stand up if someone with a reservation shows up and claims your seat.
In Italy at a station or ticket machine a reservation is 3€ so I recommend to get it directly there at the station, the ticket machines usually work really fine. You should get it in Nice at the station too.
