I am thinking about visiting plitvice lakes.
I am nervous on how to get out there from Zagreb.
I read that some trains stop in the middle of nowhere, with nothing around for a 100 miles.
Also i read that there are some problems with the bus routes.

I would appreciate advice, from someone who have traveled this route.

Also i am a bit nervous about the animals.
Bear, wolves, snakes and also the landmines.

Therefore I prefer to walk with some other people or a travel guide.

Any experience?

Also i am thinking about visiting the national park of Krka: https://rail.cc/en/skradin/krka-national-park/l4339

Hi.
If you stay in Zagreb, you can ask in the hostel for day-trip operator.
If you want to travel by yourself, think about the bus:
Zagreb - Plitvice Lakes: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zagreb-to-plitvice-lakes
Plitvice Lakes - Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/plitvice-lakes-to-zagreb
Bus information: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-bus/zagreb-plitvice-lakes/24
Connection to Split is also possible.

As long as you keep to marked routes and get informations from the vistor centre I would not worry about anything in the National Park. ;)

Hello,

I will visit Plitvice Lakes this summer (in August/September), coming from Split and then going to Zagreb. My plan was to use bus as I didn't know that there were trains going to Plitvice Lakes :)

I had a look and the train stops at Vrhovi. Then, to go to Plitvice Lakes, you have to take a bus. But it doesn't seem to be a great idea.

Croatia is a country where train is not very developed unlike buses...

By the way, Plitvice Lakers is one of the famous place in Croatia, everything seems well organised (as far as I know...).

Just my thoughts...

That's why we recommend the bus for Plitvice Lakes, even being a rail travel forum .
Believe what we recommend. :)
