Hi there,

I'm trying to book seats on a night train from Trondheim to Bodo on the NSB website but I cannot see an option for 'Interrail discount' or whatever. Also, railcc charges £11 when it says it would be a 6 Euro supplement for a second class seat. Help please?

Hi.
For the NSB website I can not give you support.

For railcc: no one earns money by selling reservations - it is simply an extra service to help Interrailers! But the person who prints out the reservation for you, puts it into a letter and send it to you has to be paid - so there are handling fees on some reservations which might be as well the case for other countries, if you do not buy the reservation at a station in the country of departure.
Read also here bellow the reservation information on railcc: the given prices may vary due to service or handling fees. Depending on whether you purchase the reservations/tickets online, at a ticket machine or at a railway station.

If you want to support the information on railcc, please buy your official Interrail pass via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you. :)

Peter :)

It is not common procedure to get InterRail reservations online, only very few companies offer this service. As Peter explained, the prices given on railcc are valid in the relevant country at the counter (online only if the railway company offers this service) and can vary if purchased in other countries or in railcc shop due to handling fees etc.

Ah OK, thanks guys! Though should I be reserving seats for this journey or will it be OK just to turn up?

Currently we dont have 100% clear information regarding Norway: Some of our sources say that reservation is compulsory, others say it is not.
I would say it is sufficient to ask locally and get a reservation there if needed. Is this going to be the first leg of your journey?

It will be the second leg of our trip. We arrive in Norway 25 May in Oslo, go to Trondheim the next day and then go on the night of 27 May at 23:40 and arrive Bodo 09:15 (or about that). I'm just worried that we won't have a seat to sleep in which is why I'd like to reserve beforehand but if we have to wait until getting to Norway then so be it.

Alright, get your reservations in Oslo S then. You will also need a reservation for the Oslo - Trondheim train, at least this is our current information.
However, I would ask to confirm this locally. When we travelled in the opposite direction in August 2010, we did not have reservations for the Bodo - Trondheim night train and got seats easily; the reservation for Trondheim - Oslo we made on the day in Trondheim and we still got seats for the three of us.
It would be great if you could share your experiences with us after your trip - thank you. :)
