Hi Guys !

My name is Maciek and it`s my first post here. I am in the middle of planing our (me and my girlfriend) trip. We start 1st of June and finish 15th June.
I am a bit stuck as we plan to stay on 9th June in Nice (maybe 2 nights), and then we want to get to Barcelona. But we would like to stay somewhere in a middle of this 2 cities.
Can You suggest any nice place to stay ? Any nice connection ?

Thanks

Maciek

Hi you can have a look at this blog entry: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/ Especially look at this connection: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-barcelona

Others places might be Toulon, Marseille or Montpellier, Parc naturel régional de Camargue, Narbonne.

Thanks NatureOne !

Its a nice route You propose. The only problem is that we will arrive to Nice (or Menton or Ventimigilia) from Italy and we plan to get to Barcelona along french and spanish coast.

The biggest challenge for us is to find good conection from Florence to Nice and from Nice to Barcelona. And the other problem is to find a cheap accomodation in Nice or close to.

Hi.

Accommodation in Nice check here, some examples: https://rail.cc/en/nice/accommodation/c

Stops along the coast: https://rail.cc/blog/scenic-train-cote-bleue/

Also include the Little Yellow Train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/villefranche-de-conflent-to-latour-de-carol
It is free of extra fees and amazing! :)

Florence to Nice you can travel for free - schedules may change depending on your day of travel:

Firenze S.M.N. dep: 0953 - free regional train
La Spezia Centrale arr: 1219

La Spezia Centrale dep: 1254 - free regional train
Ventimiglia arr: 1731

Ventimiglia dep: 1747 - free regional train
Nice Ville arr: 1835

Nice to Barcelona is here and possible as well by free day train: https://rail.cc/en/train/nice-to-barcelona

And please support the information on railcc - buy your official Interrail pass in the railcc shop: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you! :)

Peter :)

Firenze SMN 0953 - 1219 La Spezia Cle
La Spezia Cle 1254 - 1731 Ventimiglia (take a seat on the left hand side of the train)
Ventimiglia 1747 - 1835 Nice Ville

No reservations required, alterations possible on weekends.

Depending on how much time you want to spend between Nice and Barcelona I would spend on day in Marseille (if you have more time you could also visit the Calanques or go to Cote Bleue: https://rail.cc/blog/scenic-train-cote-bleue/) then go along the coast to Perpignan. From Perpignan either continue directly to Barcelona; or invest another day and take a trip with the Petit Train Jaune: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/villefranche-de-conflent-to-latour-de-carol

What is your planned route after Barcelona? If you head straight back towards Paris you could do the Petit Train Jaune then.

Other interesting cities could be: Carcassonne (although a bit off route), Arles/Aix/Avignon, Nimes.

Hi Guys !

Thanks a lot for all information. We decided to stay for 2 nights in Nice and then take train to Barcelona as Peter and Flow mentioned. And we will definitely take a Little Yellow train ! :)

Peter, we would love to support railcc and buy ticekts from page but we plan to start interrailing from 2nd of June and I am a bit affraid tickets wont come in time before our departure (we have a holiday next week in Poland so it can delay delivery of ticket).

I think my question quite fits into this discussion since I also want to go to Barcelona but from marseille....
I want to do this trip on monday and I have to arrive in barcelona as early as possible! The problem is I only found connections where I had to take the TGV about 3 times! Has somebody got a CHEAP and FAST solution for me? This is gonna be my first interrail trip so thanks a lot for your help!!!

The cheapest solution is:

Marseille-St-Charles DEP 07:24
Avignon Centre ARR 09:12
TER

Avignon Centre DEP 09:38
Port Bou ARR 13:24
TER

Port Bou DEP 14:33
Barcelona Sants ARR 17:09
RENFE MD

You don't need any reservation or supplement!

Sounds good but I guess I have to arrive in Barcelona at 12 am or something..I mean one reservation would be fine ..do think that's possible?
