Hi guys,
We've just booked our interrail passes here for August, and were wondering about which trains we would need to reserve. We know that you can make reservations on all trains, but didn't want to waste money booking everything if some trains would be fine to just to hop on.
We've already booked our hostels, so dates are non-negotiable.
Do we need to book a seat between Amsterdam and Berlin? (We're planning on getting a morning train on the 1st August). Also between Berlin and Prague, Marseille and Paris, and Vienna and Zagreb, will we need to book?
Everything else in our jounrey we know needs to be booked, but we weren't sure about these.
Thanks! We are very excited about our trip :) .
Simon.

Also, we want to get a train at 00:01 from Prague to arrive in Vienna at 06:17 on 6th August. Does this technically count as a night train, and therefore require a reservation?

Hi Simon,
thanks for purchasing at railcc! :)
If you want, you can list all your trips here and I will check on which legs you will need reservations.
Amsterdam - Berlin: Nope
Berlin - Prague: Nope
Marseille - Paris: Yes, if you use a TGV (6€). Sadly, SNCF has limited the 6€ seats for InterRailers so it might happen that they want to charge you 18€. In that case, I would recommend to either try for another connections on that day or travel the route (at least parts of it) with regular trains which will be slower but free. Just ask here if you need help on this.
Vienna - Zagreb: Nope
Not all night trains require a reservation. ;) From Prague to Vienna you are fine, no reservation required (a reservation would be required though if you were using this night train from a station in Germany).

Thanks for your reply!
So the other journeys are: vienna-zagreb, night train (2355-0611) zagreb-belgrade, night train (2110-0750) belgrade-podcorica, podcorica-mojkovac, night train (2147-0603) mojkovac-belgrade, belgrade-budapest, budapest-vienna, vienna-venice, venice-florence, florence-rome, rome-naples, night train (21.30-6.55) naples-milan, milan-nice, nice-marseille.
We did try booking a train on deutsch bahn but it wouldn't let us book a reservation only, it said that we had to buy a ticket.
Thanks for you help!

Also do you have any advice about storing bags in stations? How much would it normally cost?
Thanks again :)

Vienna - Zagreb: Nope; if you want, take an earlier train from Vienna to Graz (where I live), visit the city (it is really nice), and take the train to Zagreb in the evening.
Zagreb - Belgrade: The night train does not run since December (where have you got the info that it is running from?), only a single train during the day is running at the moment: https://rail.cc/en/train/zagreb-to-belgrade No reservation required
Belgrade - Podgorica night train: https://rail.cc/en/train/belgrade-to-bar
Podgorica - Mojkovac: No reservation required
Mojkovac - Belgrade: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/bar-belgrade-b-432/146
Belgrade - Budapest: No reservation required
Budapest - Vienna: No reservation required
Vienna - Venice: Depends on connection: https://rail.cc/en/train/vienna-to-venice
Venice - Florence: 10€ with hourly high speed train Frecciargento, 3€ with less frequent IC train (reservation recommended) or for free with regional trains with a change of trains in Bologna
Florence - Rome: 10€ with any of the frequent high speed trains (Frecciargento or Frecciarossa), 3€ with the two hourly IC trains or free with regional trains
Rome - Naples: As above
Naples - Milan: As above
Milan - Nice: https://rail.cc/en/train/milan-to-nice
Nice - Marseille: Dont take a TGV; instead use the about two hourly TER trains without extra reservations
You can only make reservations for InterRail on [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] if the night train runs within or through Germany, with departure and/or arrival station being in Germany! ;)
You will find lockers or left luggage facilites at most of the stations you are going to; expect something between 2€ and 6€ in average.

Hi again
We've tried to book various trains through the links above and none of them seem to work. Is there an alternative, we couldn't find them on the interrail website to book either. Can we reserve them at a train station in London?
Thanks :)

For which trains do you want to make reservations. Most of the connections of the above list have to be reserved at a station - but this will work only on the continent, at least in the country where the train is running plus surrounding countries.
Online reservation is only possible for the Italian trains but not really necessary as connections are frequent and it will be sufficient to get the locally. You can also try rail.shop/acprail/reservation but due to handling and postage fees this will be more expensive than at a station plus not possible for all desired connections.

Okay. Thanks for your reply. We'll just book them when we're over there
