I'm spending 5 days in Amsterdam and then I'm hoping to get to Athens via Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Bucharest in about 2 weeks to go island hopping. But I don't know if should have a 10 in 22 days or 15 days continuous ticket ?

If I could do it on a 10 in 22 ticket then I'd be able to spend more time in each city which would be great !!!

This is just a shot in the dark but it'd be great to get an idea of what I can do - otherwise I'll probably just get the 15 day continuous.

Hi!

You can easily do this with a 10in22; if planned carefully even the 5in10 would be an option! :)

Travel day 1: https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-prague
Travel day 2: https://rail.cc/en/train/prague-to-vienna
Travel day 3: https://rail.cc/en/train/vienna-to-budapest
Travel day 4: https://rail.cc/en/train/budapest-to-bucharest
Travel day 5: https://rail.cc/en/train/bucharest-to-sofia

Note that not all connections are suitable when travelling with the 5in10. When travelling overnight make sure to use connections where the 1900-rule applies: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

If you choose the 10in22 than you could think of adding some extra stops along the way. Maybe Dresden, Beograd, Brasov, Plovdiv...?

From Sofia/Plovdiv, best connection to Greece is this bus (there is no cross-border rail service at the moment): https://rail.cc/en/train/sofia-to-thessaloniki
Then from Thessaloniki by train to Athens. If you go with the 5in10 you would have to pay for the Thessaloniki to Athens leg separately; this is possible online at rail.shop/ose
The bus Plovdiv - Sofia - Thessaloniki only offers a discounted fare for IR pass holders that apparently is the same as the regular student fare.

Thanks, this is exactly what I needed as it gives me loads of options to look into and potential for going outside the planned route!!

Thank you very much this is a great help for the first leg of my journey !!
