Hej!

Split to Plitvice :arr: https://rail.cc/en/eurail/split-to-plitvice-lakes this is a connection by bus - not included in Eurail!
It might make more sense to travel to Zagreb first (by train), then got o Plitvice as a day trip (by bus) from Zagreb.

You could go Budapest - night train to Prague :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/munich-berlin-cnl1246/29
saving on accomodation costs. Downside: You miss out the scenic Elbe valley line between Prag and Dresden. Another alternative:
Budapest - Vienna - Salzburg - Munich - Berlin - Dresden (stopover) - Prague - night train to Amsterdam - Bruges - Bruxelles - Cologne - night train to Zurich

Just some suggestions, your original route is fine as well. ;)
Definitely think about the stopovers in Salzburg and Dresden, even if it is just for a few hours it is definitely worth it. :)
You could also visit Hamburg as a day trip from Berlin.

If you'd cut one day here and there it would be also easy to go to Paris and then finally to Barcelona by train.

To get to Madrid you could think about a regular ticket (as sooner you buy, the cheaper the ticket will be) that you can buy in our online shop.

thanks for the suggestions Flow. Another question- so when i bought my pass, i prematurely said i'd start the 11th of June. now knowing i'd be taking the bus from split to piltvice lakes, and another bus to zagreb, i wouldn't need to start until the 13th or so. is there anyway to change the starting date- or have i just lost out on 2 days?

Hi.
The date you filled in at your purchase is only the first possible date to activate your pass. You have to activate your Eurail pass from this date within 6 months. So NO days lost! :)
Just activate your Eurail pass in Zagreb main station: https://rail.cc/en/how-to-eurail
Zagreb station: https://rail.cc/en/zagreb/zagreb-central-station/l99
Peter :)

hey flow- can you clarify what you mean by stopover? Ex. from Berlin to Prague, you recommend a stopover in Dresden.
so i'd take the train from berlin to prague, stop in dresden for a couple hours, and then back on a train to Prague?

Thanks!

Hej,

no I mean that you could stay there on your way from Berlin to Prague:

From Berlin take a train to Dresden, have a look around the city (if you want, put your backpack in a locker at the station, depending on how much luggage you have and how long you want to stay in the city), then continue your journey to Prague.
Similar with Vienna - München: There are frequent trains to Salzburg from Vienna as well as hourly connections from Salzburg onwards to Munich. :)
