Hi, I have a few queries about using certain items abroad that I would like clarifying if possible.
1) Will I be able to use my mobile around Europe? It's a smartphone (Android - Galaxy S2) on the 02 network.
2) Assuming I can use it, I get unlimited free Wi-Fi in England so will the same apply in Europe?
3) Not sure if this is the right place for this, but when in hostels and things like mobile phones need charging, what is the best way to do this? At home I will charge my phone at night but I am a bit safety conscious when going away, so how exactly do people charge things? Do they just leave them plugged in overnight?
4) Will I be able to use my VISA debit card abroad without any problems? I assume the ATMs will have an English option to follow, but it's more about whether my card will be accepted abroad. It's been a few years since I've been away.
Thanks for reading.

I think, O2 should work, I can`t tell for WiFi, as I`m leaving my smartphone at home, while travelling, and only carry an old mobile with a pre paid SIM. For safety reasons...
I`m using a solar charger (Power Monkey Explorer), you can also load the charger via USB or a normal plug. I think, this is a very helpful device. But, ok, I didn`t stay at hostels, yet, only at campsites.
The VISA debit card should be working well, throughout Europe. Never had any problems with it.

Thank you Tom. I was going to use my smartphone as my camera too (is this wise?), so was definitely planning on taking it.
I've no experience of these Powermonkey explorers. Are they worth the purchase? I was just planning on taking a European plug adapter.

Hi.
1) Yes, ask your provider for prices in Europe.
2) I suppose: NO. But ask your provider.
3) You can ask the staff if they charge it in their office. Otherwise I always charge while sitting there for breakfast, or using the kitchen for dinner.
