Hi all
I'm currently planning my first interrail trip (at the age of 23 - why did I not do this sooner?!) and have the following plan for a 5 in 10 day ticket:
Paris
Nice (spend 1 night)
Rome (spend 3 nights)
Pompeii (day trip)
Venice (spend 3 nights)
Geneva (spend 2 nights)
Paris
What do you all think? Is there anywhere you'd recommend I do/don't visit? I am stopping at Geneva on the way back as i'm aware I can't get the night train (Thello) from Milan to Paris, this is correct isn't it?
Anyway any comments would be appreciated! :)

Hi Mark.
On your route you could even think about buying point to point tickets.
If you book early, you should easily get good prices. Just compare it.
Paris - Nice: [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
Nice - Venimiglia (or Vintimille for e-booking): [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
Venimiglia - Rome: at [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/trenitalia[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] or trenitalia
Rome - Venice: like above
Venice - Paris: direct night train Thello (not included in Interrail) at [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] - as e-ticket
Update: the whole route seems now to be directly available at [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux].
I personally wouldn't stay 3 days in Venice: full of tourists and expensive. But that's my personal opinion... ;)
If you travel with Interrail and want to go back from Italy via Switzerland to Paris, think about this route:
Venice - Milan, crossing the Alps this way: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/ and https://rail.cc/en/train/milan-to-zurich
Zurich - Paris: https://rail.cc/en/train/zurich-to-paris
