My wife and I are visiting our daughter, finishing up a semester of study in Berlin, and plan to get Eurail passes to travel from Berlin to Florence and on to London, possibly with stops along the way. We have about a week to do this. What is the best route to take? I know I have to go around France, who does not honor the Eurail pass, and somehow have to get a ferry across the channel then a train to London. But it appears ferries from Belgium are only for cars. Any assistance appreciated!

Hi.
I would have a look on point to point ticket instead of a rail pass. Do you know already your travel dates? If you book in advance, you can get really cheap prices.
Just an example, open for discussion. :)

Berlin - Munich: for example by night train in a double cabin with WC and shower - [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] (e-ticket, book online print out at home)
Additional information here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/berlin-munich-cnl1247/28
Also possible by day train: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn/Berlin-Hbf/Munich-Hbf[/ux]

If you use a night train to Munich, put your luggage in a locker at the central railway station in Munich (https://rail.cc/en/munich/munich-central-railway-station/l59) for ~ EUR 4 the day.

Munich - Florence: on this route you can travel as well by overnight train ([ux]https://rail.shop/bahn/Munich-Hbf/Firenze[/ux]) or a day train. It is the night train going to Rome ([ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/munich-rome-cnl-485/35[/ux])

Florence - Paris: travel by direct overnight train. It is the best and cheapest option. Buy online as e-ticket here: [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] - select Florence Campo Di Marte as departure station - or try Thello.

Paris - London: use the direct Eurostar train - [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux]

If you travel with a rail pass (Eurail Select) https://rail.cc/en/eurail, you would have to avoid France like you already know - you would also have to pay reservation fees for the night trains. And as you know your travel dates due, you won\'t need the flexibility of a rail pass. So in my eyes, early booked point to point tickets would be the best solution.

Peter :)

Thanks a lot Peter. This is very helpful. I am checking all the links and working through the itinerary to see the total cost. Can't quite figure out how to specify a sleeper compartment for 3 with shower, etc. to get that pricing...
