Hiya!
I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but I wondering how exactly I should pay for the Hostels.
I intend on booking most of them online- will i need to get a cash card/travel card etc to book them beforehand, or will my Visa debit card be okay (will the rates be ridiculously expensive too?) I would much prefer paying by cash but I understand that most take a reservation fee, and that would most likely be from some sort of card.. right?
Excuse my ignorance- clearly a first-time interrailer!
Thanks

Hi.
If you book online, you usually have to pay by credit card. It depends of course on the booking-website which payment options they offer: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
You pay a reservation fee - and at the hostel you pay the rest. Which can be cash, credit card (depends as well on the hostel), ...
I recommend to make a hostel reservation at least the day before arriving in a new city - so you know where to go and you save a lot of time.
By the way: you can also make reservations contacting the hostel directly, then you usually can save the reservation fee you pay at the booking websites mentioned above. While booking via the websites above there is a guarantee you get your bed.
