Hi all,
Am new here but have found this forum whilst doing some research.
Basically myself and 2 friends are planning on going to Positivus festival in Latvia this year for the first time, Initially we were going to drive but have now turned to trains.
Does anyone have any experience of train travel to either Estonia or Latvia?
The route I have found so far is the Dutch flyer from Harwich by ferry to Amsterdam (£45 pp) then Amsterdam to Copenhagen (overnight 6 berth shared cabin 69 Euros) then Copenhagen to Stockholm (£30 in the day) and lastly a ferry from Stockholm to Tallin or Riga for 50 Euro. Once here we will muddle our way through!
We looked at flying but thats boring and this is going to be the only time we will get away this year so want to spend maybe a night in each place plus the Festival (19th-22nd July) then travel back (with a friend who is meeting us there). We will also have all our camping gear with us.
Thanks if anyone can help!

Hi.
There are two ways... the one you mentioned, the other one via Poland.
1
A) By ferry from the UK via Harwich/Hoeck van Holland to Amsterdam. In my eyes the best option! :) I love this ferry: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/harwich/ferry/c
B) Night train Amsterdam to Copenhagen: book early to get the cheapest prices. E-ticket (including the special fare Europe-Special) at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
C) Copenhagen - Stockholm: tickets are available much cheaper than GBP 30 if you book early! Check it here: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/sj[/ux]
D) Stockholm - Tallinn by ferry: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/stockholm/ferry/c
E) Estonia to Latvia by train: https://rail.cc/en/train/tallinn-to-riga
Very cheap. :)

A) Ferry to Amsterdam like above.
B) Amsterdam - Berlin by train for EUR 39: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
C) Berlin - Warsaw by train for EUR 39: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
D) Warsaw to the border of Lithuania: https://rail.cc/en/train/warsaw-to-vilnius
Book via https://rail.shop/pkpic[/ux]
the part from the border (see connection link above) via https://rail.shop/lit
E) Lithuania to Latvia is possible by train but with an overnight stop. Let's say... a bit complicate. If you want, do it, but there are as well very cheap direct buses from Vilnius to Riga. :)
Have a nice trip and fun on the festival!!! :)
Peter :)

You could also take the through night train Amsterdam - Warszawa. ;)
And if you want to return back home by train as well, make a round trip!

Thank you for your advice.
Coming back we will get a bus from Riga to Kaunas, train from Kaunas to Warsaw and then Warsaw to Amsterdam and spend a night here before the day ferry back.
I am having problems getting a price/booking the direct train from Warsaw to Amsterdam (the Jan Kiepura train?) on the DB BAHN website, do you have any ideas why or how I should book this for the 23rd July?
Thanks again.
