Hi!

My friends and I are planning a 3/4 week long trip around Europe. We haven't nailed down a full itinerary yet but are thinking of Amsterdam-Frankfurt-Munich-Prague-Krakov-Budapest-Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik before flying back to the UK.
We are going to get the Global Pass but are unsure whether to get the 22days with 10 days travel or the 22 days with every day traveling, could anyone advise me on which would be best?

I was under the impression that the pass enabled travel within cities but have recently read that this isn't true? If so maybe the 10 travel day global pass would be the better option?

Any advice on what to do and where to go would be great :)

Hi Amelia.
Sadly the public transportation in cities (metro, bus, ...) is not included in Interrail. As Interrail is a rail pass of the national European railway companies and not a all inclusive travel pass, including everything on tracks, ... :)
The 10 in 22 Interrail Global Pass is often a good choice. As you won't travel every day, always stay one, two or three nights at a place.
From where in the UK you start to Amsterdam?
As I would start interrailing then from Brussels/Amsterdam. You have the option to use an Eurostar train from London to Brussels for example (book early, then it is EUR 45 one-way): [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]
Or my preferred way from and to the UK is by ferry. Stenaline offers Rail&Sail (www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry/rail-and-sail/holland/). Other option is by bus (there are several carriers).

Is there a special reason why you want to visit Frankfurt? I rather recommend Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, ...
The rest of your route is easy to do. For schedules and night trains check here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

From Split to Dubrovnik you have to use a bus for less than EUR 15 as there is no train connection: https://rail.cc/en/train/split-to-dubrovnik , https://rail.cc/en/split/bus/c

You could even travel from Zagreb via Sarajevo (https://rail.cc/en/train/zagreb-to-sarajevo) to Mostar. And end in Ploce (https://rail.cc/en/train/sarajevo-to-ploce).
From there by train to Split (https://rail.cc/en/train/rijeka-to-split).
These last steps (from Sarajevo) are also easy to do with normal tickets, no need to spent Interrail travel days for it.

Just some thoughts to plan your route. :)

And if you like railcc and all the information and want to support it, buy your official Interrail passes via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you. :)

Pete :)

We're planning on flying to Amsterdam from Bristol with easyjet because flights are ~£30, which would give us more time before we start to use our pass as we're thinking of spending 3 nights in Amsterdam and then start using the pass to leave.
Frankfurt is only an idea at the moment, we just thought it looked like a mid way stop between Amsterdam and Munich as we would all really like to visit Munich but would like to split the journey up.
With regards to our Poland-Croatia journey, what would you recommend as stops along the way? Budapest is a definite for us but we're unsure as to where would be best to go before and after it, in order to end up in Dubrovnik at the end of our journey.
Also, are Hostels easy to book along the way or is it better to prebook them all before we leave?
Thank you for your help!
Amelia :)

I recommend to book the first hostel (Amsterdam) already in advance - the rest on the way. Except you exactly know the date when you will arrive in a certain city. Most hostels have internet access so you can just make the booking for the next day online. Then you know where to go in the new city the next day.
Booking here: [ux]https://rail.shop/bookingcom[/ux] , [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

On the route Amsterdam to Munich, you could use as well the direct night train instead to spent the money for a hostel: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/amsterdam-munich-cnl-419/11

With 10 travel days...
Amsterdam - Cologne/Frankfurt/Heidelberg - Munich - Vienna - by night train to Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Budapest - Lake Balaton - Zagreb - Split

Other options of course possible.
Peter :)
