Hi everybody !
We're 3 french friends and we're planning to go from Menton (France) to Plitviçka Jezera (Croatia) by bike, following the eurovelo 8 this summer. Our idea is to stop a day to visit Venezia, then to cross the Adriatic sea with a ferry and go to the lakes where we'll stop a day. We'll sleep in campsites.
We want to come back to France by train.
We've already found some trains connections from Venezia to France, but we can't find any information about the route between the Plitvice Lakes and Venezia.
We've seen that the neerest train station from the Plitvice Lakes is in Vrhovine and that there are train lines from Vrhovine to Rijeka and then Triest, but we don't manage to find informations about the schedules of trains in Croatia, and if they accept bikes or not.
Could you help us please ? And if you've got informations about campsites in croatia and around the Plitvice park, it could be very nice too !
Thanks a lot !

Hi,
There's a bus, which connecets Plitvick Jezera and Zagreb. https://rail.cc/en/train/plitvice-lakes-to-zagreb
On the website you find information about the transport of bicycles. http://www.akz.hr/default.aspx?id=266
But you either can use trains :) Just check https://rail.shop/bahn/?l=en or http://www.hzpp.hr/timetable Some trains are listed :)
I found a source, which says, that every train has designated bicycle carriage. But I can't tell you if this is true :D www.greentraveller.co.uk/blog/bikes-trains-europe
For campsites check http://www.plitvicelakes-camping.com or http://fr.np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=76 http://fr.np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=75

Hey !
Thanks for your advices.
We've finally decided to come back from the Plitvice Lakes to Italy by Rijeka, Trieste and Venice.
We found regular buses between Rijeka and Trieste (5 or 6 daily), but we cannot contact them to know if they accept bikes and the price of the journey ... Do you have any informations about that ?
We also found regular trains between Trieste and Venice (about 1 per hour daily), and they seem to accept bikes. But here stays a problem, we don't understand how it works for trains in Italy. It seems to be several companies which don't propose the same timetables. So we don't know how it will cost, and if we must book our travel or not.
Last problem : we found on the official website of the Plitvice Lakes that it exists buses to go from the Lakes to Rijeka, but the phone number they give doesn't work .... Do you know if there are really buses to go to Rijeka ?
Thanks for your answers !
