Hi we are new to travelling in Europe- mostly we have backpacked around Africa and Asia- so this is an exciting new type of travel for us!
I have looked into the interRail pass and we probably want a 5in10 pass.
We found super cheap flights to Zadar and from Budapest and we have 7-8 days max to explore.
We thought the best places along the way to stop would be Plitvice Lakes and Bled.
We definitely prefer nature and hiking to big cities and shopping but we'd be happy to stop in some interesting cultural cities along the way.
Any suggestions as to
a) if this route is doable in 7 days?
b) if there are places along the way that we MUST see?
c) the best route to take between these destinations?
should we skip the lakes and go up to Bled via Rijeka instead?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi I found some good flights arriving in Zadar and flying out of Nice.
We would have 6 days to get between them, including as much exploring on the way as possible!
(note i recently posted a route in the other direction to Budapest but we are also exploring going west instead!)
So is it possible to get from Zadar to Nice (or at least to San Moreno in Italy) in 5 days?
We would like
Days 1-2 in Croatia-maybe a day hike somewhere- any suggestions of places between Zadar and Split?
Day3 Train to Split & ferry from Split to Ancona? Bus/Train from Ancona to Florence
Day 4-5 Florence/Pisa-
Day 6 Train/Bus Pisa- NIce
Any suggested alternative routes? maybe via Venice instead? Maybe do more in Croatia and then speed up the journey in Italy?
Thanks!

Hi.
Please no double posts. First think what you want to see, then post it. We won't answer posts which are already outdated - as you posted a new one with a new route. Thank you for avoiding double work. :)
Where do you start, where do you end?
Then it is possible to plan a route.
Here are schedules which you can use to find connections to Lake Bled (https://rail.cc/en/bled/c) or to Plitvice Lakes (https://rail.cc/en/plitvice-lakes/c): https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
And a first timer guide for Interrail, explaining everything: https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail

Hi Peter and other dudes,
sorry for double posting- We have a choice to go from Zadar to Nice or to Budapest so we are trying to explore both options.
I think we would prefer information regarding Zadar- Budapest : we would have 7-8 days to stop at places on the way.
Thanks for the links, I will explore train times.
Any further tips about places to go on the way would be great. It seems difficult to get from Zadar to the lakes- perhaps skip it?

Hi.
I personally prefer the Eastern European route as well. It is simply cheaper and much more interesting in my eyes. :)
How to travel:
A: first Zadar to Split (https://rail.cc/en/train/zadar-to-split), then Split to Plitvice Lakes (https://rail.cc/en/train/split-to-plitvice-lakes). From there continue by bus to Zagreb (https://rail.cc/en/train/plitvice-lakes-to-zagreb).
B: Other option: Zadar to Zagreb (https://rail.cc/en/train/zadar-to-zagreb) by train and day trip from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes (https://rail.cc/en/zagreb/train/c).
On option A you could also travel Zadar to Split by bus (https://rail.cc/en/train/rijeka-to-split) - so not really worth buying an Interrail pass for the first days
You can reach the Plitvice Lakes only by bus.
Okay, now you are in Zagreb... with lets say 4 travel days left.
Then you could continue to Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Vienna to Budapest.
Or directly to Lake Bled. Then Munich, Prague, Budapest.
Just some thoughts... :)
And if you like railcc, support us and buy your official Interrail via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)
