Hello,
I am an 18 year old danish student who graduates this summer. I am in the first stages of planning my first interrail trip. I would like to travel july 15th to august 15th. I am going by myself. I am thinking about flying from copenhagen to paris and stay there for about 5 days. Then I would take the train to south france, and travel along the coast to toscany and perhaps milan. Rome would be next, followed by the ferry to patras, greece, from either Bari or Brindisi. Finally I would fly back from Athen.

Even though I have travelled a lot, I have never planned a trip like this before, so therefore I ask you, is this plan at all possible in 30 days?
What I really want is to see Paris and Greece and the french and italian landscape and coasts. I've also considered spain, but I cutted it out, cause it would probably be too much.
I have travelled in both Bosnia and Croatia, so even though it is absolutely stunning, I wont go there.

Can you recommend some cities/beaches etc along my route and do you have any suggestions to improve it?
And how about Greece? Concerning the crisis, what are the plusses/minusses of travelling there?
Thank you so much for your help!! :)

Best regards Caroline

Hi Caroline!

Everything is possible within 30 days! Almost everything. ;)

In Greece, the network, especially on Peloponnes has been cut considerably, and there are no international trains across the borders (the latter wont concern you on your trip). Depending on how much time you want to spend in Greece it might be worth considering getting only a 10in22 for the trip from Paris until the ferry to Greece (the pass still has to be valid on the day you arrive in Greece). Since you want to spend five days in Paris and probably a few days in Greece as well this could work out.
Oh, I would also recommend (since I am not a huge fan of flying across Europe) getting to Paris by train - it is not that far away from Copenhagen! :arr: https://rail.cc/en/copenhagen-paris-train/f4037 Also possible by night train to Amsterdam (book at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] ) and Thalys from Amsterdam to Paris (book at rail.shop/beurope)...just within one day! :)

With ten travel days from Paris, you could go:
Paris - Marseille (maybe go to the small beaches of Cote Bleue :arr: https://rail.cc/blog/de/zug-cote-bleue/) - Cote d'Azur (I would visit Nice (as a base), Grasse/Antibes/Villefranche (nice beach) and maybe Saorge) - Cinque Terre - Pisa/Lucca/Siena - Firenze - Roma. Then with the ferry to Greece - maybe you could even add Lecce in the south...this should leave you with enough time and travel days to still be flexible if you want to change/add something while travelling.
