Good day, my situation so far is:
Two friends of mine and myself included (living in Germany) want to travel from Paris to Spain with the Interrail ticket
in August 2014, although it's quite early still, I want to make sure that the route is planned roughly.
The exact number of days shouldn't transcend 14 days, though a varied landscape would be nice.
I on my part absolutely like mountains and water, be it a lake or a beach
(especially untouched nature/ nature and ruins ;) ),
on the other hand big cities are a must.

Is there any route that includes beaches, cities and mountains (or other great places, that you think are a must see), let me know- and how difficult it is to reach those places :) .
I have read about the petit train jaune and I want to include it in my trip.
If anyone did a trip like that, please tell me which cost should be expected, if reserved months ago.

Hi Tobbel.
Still a lot of time to plan your trip. :)
By the way, there is as well a German speaking section in the forum .
Some short thoughts...

Beaches - for example Arcachon at the Atlantic Ocean here: https://rail.cc/en/arcachon/c
The Petit Train Jaune: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/
Area of San Sebastian in Northern Spain.
Nimes in direction of Le Puy by the Ligne des Cévennes: https://rail.cc/en/train/nimes-to-clermont-ferrand

Hi!

Have you decided yet whether you want to do a round trip or go back home from Spain by plane? If 14 days is your maximum timeframe, I think you will have to go with the 5in10 IR ticket plus maybe a regular Europa Spezial ticket for the first part of your trip...but as it is still 2013, it doesn't make much sense to make detailed plans now.

Some suggestions:

Also quite interesting: Le Puy en Velay and then via the Ligne des Cevennes to Nîmes.

Arcachon and the dune of Pyla is absolutely worth a visit! The petit train jaune would take you to the mountains. And after the ride you could either spent some time at a beach in spain, or at the french mediterranian coast.

Thanks for those tipps, it won't be a round tour.
I thought of flying to Paris and flying back from Spain,
shouldn't be that expensive, if booked early enough (50-60 Euros maybe for each should be correct). :D
Although I am not able to book them yet.

Noticed the german forum, after I had written this topic, shouldn't be a problem nonetheless.

The 5 in 10 ticket seems suited for this task, we will stay 2-3 days in either
one of the towns in spain and Paris at the start and end.

We want to include Lissabon as well, because Portugal isn't far off the route.
Arcachon and the dune of Pyla looks promising and Nimes as well,
will be hard to decide where to go. ;)

I would also consider going from Berlin to Paris overnight by direct CNL :arr: https://rail.cc/de/berlin-paris-nachtzug/f3806

Hi Tobbel.
Why flying from Berlin to Paris? Use the direct overnight train from CITY CENTER to city center. No need to check in at the airports. 6-bed-couchette from EUR 59 if you book early at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
And lets start your Interrail pass from Paris then. That's real interrailing! :)
Schedule night train: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/berlin-paris-cnl-450/19
Peter :)

P.S: Flow was faster... ;)
