Myself and a friend are planning a trip around europe for 1 month this July. we're hoping to hit up the following:
lisbon
madrid
barcelona
paris
amsterdam
berlin
krakow
prague
vienna
budapest
croatia
can anyone advise us on the best possible route/how much time to spend in each place?
also, for which routes are overnight trains available?
we're planning on flying to lisbon, interrailing and then flying home (to london) from croatia.
cheers! :)

Hi.
I recommend to change the order a little bit.
Lisbon ... Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Budapest - Vienna - Zagreb - ...
All connections are listed here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Including the best train connections for Interrailers, using free trains if possible. Especially on Barcelona-Paris (https://rail.cc/en/train/barcelona-to-paris) and Paris-Amsterdam (https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam) you can save a lot of money, using the right trains.
Barcelona to Paris: think about including the Little Yellow Train - https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/

For the cities I recommend at least two nights ... maybe even three if you have the time.

Please support railcc:
- buy your rail passes and tickets here on the recommended website: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
- add locations of your home-town (bars, nice places, ...)
Thank you! :)

Hej,

also have a look at :arr: https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail where you will find links to a list of all night trains in Europe plus other helpful information.

You might also browse the forum, where you will find lots of routes similar to yours.

Since you have to One Month Pass, you could think about adding a few extra places, maybe some smaller towns which you could visit as day trips from the bigger cities you are going to visit.
For instance :arr: https://rail.cc/blog/cascais-and-the-boca-do-inferno/ or Girona a bit north of Barcelona...Antwerpen/Gent/Brugge on the way from Paris to Amsterdam...Delft in the Netherlands...
