Hello Guys

My friends and I are going on a 22-day InterRail for the first time in August.
I was thinking about the best route to take, and I came up with this:

[list:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3](Lisbon)
Sud Expresso - 17€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3](Hendaye)
TGV - 1,5-25€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Paris
Thalys - 12-39€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Brussels
Fyra - 4€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Amsterdam
IC/DB - 4€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Berlin
BWE/DB - 4€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Warsow
IR/PR - No charges[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Krakow
ČD Night Train - 3€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Prague
ICBP/DB - 4€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3](Munich)
DB Night Train - 11,50€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Venice
IC/TRENITALIA - 3€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3]Rome
Plane (EasyJet) - 54€[/*:m:1qapdsy3]
[*:1qapdsy3](Lisbon)[/*:m:1qapdsy3][/list:u:1qapdsy3]
I marked green the places where we will sleep and blue the passages.

Now, I don't know if it's best to return from Rome to Lisbon by plane (54€ on EasyJet), or by rail (Rome - Paris - Lisbon)
I am also afraid that this route is too ambitious, and will force us to spend too much time on trains.

What do you think?
Thanks!

Hi.
Just some thoughts ...

Paris - Brussels: save your money and use free trains - or at least a cheaper connection including the TGV - but not the THALYS!
https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-brussels
Brugges is also nice and just one hour beside of Brussels.

Brussels - Amsterdam: also by free train!
https://rail.cc/en/train/brussels-to-amsterdam

Amsterdam - Berlin: no reservation required for the day train = free!
https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-berlin

Then think about changing your route a little bit... like Prague - Krakow - Budapest - (Vienna) - Munich - ...
And Venice ... I am not a fan of it. Expensive and a lot of tourists. Maybe better Lake Bled (https://rail.cc/en/bled/c) in Slovenia ... border crossing to Italy via Gorizia
Bled - Rome: https://rail.cc/en/train/bled-to-rome

OR Munich to Zurich (Switzerland is expensive!!). Then Zurich to Milano via this very scenic route:

Thanks for your input Peter, I will consider it and will post here again once I have a new route planned out!
Also, what is your opinion on the best way to return to Lisbon part?

I personally prefer the train of course. :D
But it is a long trip...
Via Ventimiglia - Nice - Barcelona - Madrid ...
Check the schedules: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
So I would think myself as well about taking a flight back to Lisbon. :o

I'm working on the route but I have a question, what is the best way to go from Munich to Bologna?

If you can't find a route here on railcc, use this schedule planer: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
There is one direct day train (dep. 0931, arr. 1620) or use the night train Munich-Roma and exit at 0420 in Bologna.
The day train is with extra fee: https://rail.cc/en-type-country/db-%C3%B6bb-eurocity/%C3%B6bb-db-%C3%B6bb-ec/32

as reported many times now; FYRA from BRUssel is dead-kaputt.
Note that WAW-KRK has just 1-and that is not daily, I think, IR train left now-all other-many-trains are TLK or Express- you now need a seat RES for ALL such trains anytime in PL.

IR trains in Poland still exist and are operated by PR and do still exist...regarding reservations we have updated the section quite some time ago...
