Hello,
I am new to the forum . I am planning for my trip in Eastern Europe during June 8-June30. I will be in Budapest on June 12 and will have to leave for Zagreb by June 14. I would like to spend my time in Budapest as much as i can. I recently checked out the train schedule and they only have the 13pm train. I read from another forum that train from Budapest to Zagreb will run twice in the summer. Can anyone confirm this?
Ideally, it would be perfect for me to take the early train so I can stay in Budapest on June 12-13 then leave for Zagreb on June 14 early in the morning. Or taking the night train on June 13 in the evening and will be in Zagreb around midnight. However I checked the night train schedule, but it said the Budpest-Zagreb-Venice route is currently suspended. So now I am not sure how many days should I book the hotel in Budapest. Thank you very much! Any advices would be appreciated

Hi,
in summer there will be an additional night train to Split via Zagreb, however running on two days/week only. :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/budapest-split-g1204/132

Thank you very nuch. Do you know how much the overnight train cost? Is there anywhere I can check out the condition of the sleeper train? I think I saw the early regular train that leave from budapest to zagreb on 6am, but I couldn't find it now. Thank you!

Hi,
regular fare Budapest - Split one way should be ~86,40/89,25€ plus reservation costs for couchette or sleeper (if wanted). However MAV promotes a 60% discounted return ticket for just 71,40€.
Reservation costs can be found under the link I posted above.
The 6am train has been withdrawn in December 2012.

Hello, I am trying to reserve the ticket from the above link and it says no offer is availabe. Do you know if they still run night train from Budapest to Split in the Summer. I would like to book the ticket in advance just for a peace of mind. Is this possible? Thank you very much.

Do you want to travel to Split now or only to Zagreb? I could imagine that the tickets for the night train Budapest - Split are not sold online, only at stations.
The night train definitely runs on the dates shown.

@Flow, thank you very much. I decided to take a night train to Split instead. I will be in Budapest a few days before going to Split so I will get the tickets when I arrive there then. Regarding the night train, do you have any idea how the train's condition is? I checked the web but I don't find and pictures. Do they offer Delux sleeper train? I prefer this class of train for my mom who will be traveling with us. Thank you again for your kindness.

The Budapest - Split night train has two sleeping cars that are very similar (same basic construction):
Praha - Split from CD (Czech Railways)
Budapest - Split from MAV (Hungarian Railways)
This is an older type with only 1/2/3bed sleepers without ensuite shower/WC and also no shower on the corridor. I have used such a sleeper from Brasov to Budapest in February, you will find a picture of my cabin in Double/2bed layout here: https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train//
The domestic Zagreb - Split night train can either have an older or a modern HZ (Croatian Railways) sleeping car. The older one will be similar to the CD/MAV ones although not exactly the same; I have used the modern one in the night train Zagreb - Zürich in August 2011, picture here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/belgrade-zurich-en-414/159
Again, there are no deluxe cabins available on this train.
If you have to book a Zagreb - Split night train (in case the direct Budapest - Split train is full), try to book train number 825 https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zagreb-split-b-821/129 as train 1823 only has a couchette, no sleeper https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zagreb-split-b-1821/128
