Hi

Im planning to take this route at the end of the month with a few stops along the way. I recently discovered the Balkans Flexipass, has anyone used this please? Is it essentially the same principals and rules of the inter-rail global pass (5 in 10 etc)?

I read somewhere that the BFP has been discontinued but then heard from someone who has recently used it, so I guess the first info was incorrect......

Any info regarding this railcard or travel between these cities, would be brilliant :)

Cheers, A

Hej,

just a quick answer for now as I am in a hurry:

Yes, the BFP still exists and has the same basic rules as a IR flexi pass. It is best bought in one of the participating countries, where it is cheapest (for instance, 5 travel days within a month for <26 cost 53€); elsewhere or on the internet it is usually much more expensive.
However, the country where you buy the pass is considered your country of residence and you are only allowed travel to/from the border in this country, no free travel. For instance, if you buy the pass in Bucharest, you can only use it to travel to a border (and back to Bucharest), but not for other trips within Romania.

cheers guys :) im going to have a proper read of Flo's blog once im off the train :)

I read on the man in seat** this morning that the BFP is only for non European citizens :-S I guess id have to get the interrail youth 5 in 10, which brings me onto another question.....

Generally, would you say its probably cheaper to just buy point to point tickets (budapest-timsoara-Bucharest-sofia-plovdiv-Istanbul) plus reservation etc or get the interrail ticket? Or the price will not vary that much between the two? Is there a didicated website where I can findout the fares within countries (i.e timi-bucha)as well as internationally (i.e bucharest-sofia) please?

Cheers :)

Hi.
The information on the website you mention is wrong.
For prices, I recommend to have a look on the websites of the national railway companies. Romania: [ux]https://rail.shop/cfr[/ux]
Then you have to calculate. ;)
