Hi,

Next summer my fiance and I are embarking on our first interrail trip. We are planning on getting the 10 days out of 22 pass. So far this is our itinerary (had to just put Hungary in the thread title, as the specifics wouldn't fit):

- Fly from London to Amsterdam (spend 2 nights in Amsterdam)
- Amsterdam to Berlin (2 - 3 nights in Berlin)
- Berlin to Prague (2 nights in Prague)
- Prague to Vienna (3 nights in Vienna)
- Vienna to Budapest (2 - 3 nights in Budapest)
- Budapest to Kesthely (4 nights in Keszthely)
- Getting the bus/train down to Fonyod and jumping on the night train to Split in Croatia.
- Spend a day in split before getting the afternoon ferry to Bol on the island of Brac (6 nights)
- Fly back from Split airport to London.

Does this seem like too much to fit in? Would we be better staying longer/shorter in some place or going to others instead. Any tips for rookies or points of interest that anyone can suggest for these destinations would be really helpful. Using the site [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] I have calculated our accomodation (mainly just staying in cheap hotels or private double rooms in hostels) at about £850 and flights/interrail ticket at about £400 - £500 altoghether, including buses...etc. and then looking at about £50 a day spending money a day for food and fun. Will this be enough? I am hoping to save at least £3000 in the next year in order to afford it (may have to sell a kidney, but I'm sure it will be worth it).

Like I say if anyone has ANY advice to offer, it really would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Cal

Hej Cal,

I would try to fit in a few more stops to get more out of your 10in22 ticket. The thing is that it could work out cheaper to use regular advance fare tickets for the first two legs and then a 5in10 ticket.
You can check rates for Europa Spezial on :arr: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]

In general, the route is pretty straightforward until Budapest and Keszthely. No reservations required for the daytime trains, just hop on the train.
From Keszthely (or Fonyod) down to Split the most convenient option is the direct night train :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/budapest-to-split however it does run only twice a week. The alternative option would require a change of trains in Zagreb :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/budapest-to-split
