Hi everyone,

Me and a couple mates are planning on doing this route next week - Budapest-Bratislava-Vienna-Munich-Milan-Rome, just wondering if you have any advice for us and also I seem to be struggling to understand where I buy reservations for seats between Munich - Milan and Milan - Rome.

All help is gratefully received.

Stu

Hej Stu,

are you travelling with a rail pass? If yes, what pass are your planning to purchase?

Do you want to travel overnight or during the day on the two legs you were asking for reservations?

Hej,

I hope you purchased your tickets via railcc to support our work - and this answer as well. ;)

There are Eurocity trains leaving every two hours from 0731 until 1531 which will take you until Verona. A 7€ supplement is required which is payable on board. I am not sure if you can get this at a station, I dont think so.
From Verona, take a regional train to Milan.

From Milan to Rome there are frequent high speed trains (Frecciarossa) which require a 10€ reservation. You can get this online at Trenitalia website, at a station ticket desk (for instance in Munich, or Milan of course) or at a ticket machine which probably is the most convenient way. As there are so frequent connections you dont have to worry about fully booked trains.

Thanks again flo, you've been a great help, you've made it sound all so simple we should have no problems now.

Unfortunatly I only found this very useful website earlier and we had already purchased our tickets, sorry :(
But don't worry I will definitely recommend you to friends and maybe use this site again to buy future tickets.

Thanks ever so much

Hej,

no worries. ;) We are happy if you recommend us to friends. And if you want, you could give us some feedback on how your trip was after you returned. That way you can help us helping other travellers as well.

And if there are more questions regarding your trip, just ask. :)
