Hello everyone ,
New to the whole forum thing so please bare with me if i ask any foolish questions :os
The plan is to interail on a 10 in 21 day pass between sept 10 and Oct 1st 2013 where i will finish in Munich to meet a bunch of mates from home and enjoy Oktoberfest .
The countries i would like to go to are Spain , Holland , France , Italy , and finish up in Germany.
My interests are Food , beaches and finding quirky spots ! ...i am very interested in Basque food and cafe culture, some sight seeing and general pottering etc. ..
Spending time in Amsterdam is also a must.
Apart from the above specs i am totally easy.
I am not asking anyone to plan my trip for me , well you can if you like :D ....but any suggestions would be great.
I am a mid thirties male and not really into roughing it , i was looking into the pro's and cons of a 1st class ticket?
I will also possibly be travelling the rails solo !

Just an idea:
- Madrid
-Barcelona
- little yellow train to Perpignan
- Arcachon (great beach and the Pyla dune)
- St.Malo (said to be very nice, old city with beaches as well)
- Brussels
- Amsterdam
- Hamburg
-Berlin
-Munich

Hi,
well, an obvious circle-route could be Paris - Bordeaux (including an Atlantic resort such as Arcachon with Dune de Pyla, Biarritz or somewhere along the Gironde; or to the vineyards of St Emilion); then to Basque Country...Barcelona - Girona - Petit Train Jaune...night train to Paris and on to Gent, a few days in Belgium and on to the Netherlands, then to Germany.
To make the most out of your IR pass it might be better to travel even longer distances (as the pass pays of more then), you could for instance also start in Belgium (get a Eurostar ticket to Bruxelles, or better all Belgian stations, then start your IR pass to Paris and the South); then, after the Petit Train Jaune take the night train from Perpignan to Strasbourg, then go to Switzerland before heading up north to the Netherlands.
This is a bit zig-zag but you would see quite a bit of nice landscape as well. In Switzerland you could go to Bern and Luzern for instance which are both very nice...
