Hey,
I'm an Irish girl wanting to see Europe this summer, as at the moment I will be doing it by myself can anyone suggest the best options/routes?
Cheers :)

Hi Jimjam.
A very general post ... ;) Mmmmh ... no - it is not possible to make suggestions... as I don't know you. ;)
How many days, where do you start, do you want to come back home by train. Do you want it the cheap way or do you want to spent a lot of money? Do you like to party or do you prefer nature...???
Just use a map and have a look on it... check the first timer guide:
https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail
And have a look at the forum section Travel Routes:
https://rail.cc/en/forum-rail-travel
You will find a lot of examples there of other travellers to get some ideas.
Peter :)

Like Peter already said, it depends on many facts, like how long would you like to travel, what do you want to see, do you prefer hopping from one bigger city, to the next, or do you want to see the countryside, how long do you want to stay at one place, do you want party, or do you want to relax, or a mixture, are you interested in cultural sights, or do you prefer an active holiday?
The longer you travel, the more you can see. Seeing Europe in just one week will not be possible, but I think, you know that already ;)
Just give us some more information about your plans and interests, and I`m quite sure, you will get some good advice on where to go and what to do, and which ticket would be the best.

Hey,
Me and my best friend went interrailing for the first time last year. and what i'm going to write was our route in big lines, and we couldn't have done it any better.
i personally suggest you'd start in 1. Paris, (enough youth hostels there and a great place to meet more backpackers.)
2. Clermont Ferrand (it's a real student city, and the people are very nice)
3. Marseille (Go lay on the beach for a day, go tanning or whatever)
4. La Spezia (BEAUTIFUL, you should totally check out the cinque terre.)
5. Firenze (But stop in Lucca too, beautiful city of my ancestors;p if you do go eat a pizza in a pizzeria called Mara Meo best pizza's in the world.)
6. by now you've probably made a lot of friends so you have to make a decision, go with them or go your own way.
7.Trieste (we we're there by night so didn't get to see a lot, but you should take the bus in the morning to:
8. Rijeka, another day to tan on the beach, ask the locals for the best local small bay, like we did.
9. Zagreb (nice city with nice city, if you do go there sleep in the hostel called Funk Loung Hostel, it's awesome with it's own bar right next door, haven't seen much of the room though, was in the bar all night.
10. Siofok (beautiful landscape, it's at the ballaton lake, apparently it's 'THE place to go' on holidays for teens from hungary and the country's around it. lot of Russian people there.)
11. Budapest (just an AWESOME city.)
12. Prague (It's beautiful, one tip: when you leave the train station, walk over the grass straight to the road, cross it, walk into the street right in front of you and on the left side there should be a sign with 'accomodation' somewhere. ring the bell, because it might take a while before someone opens the door. but it's worth it. we got to stay in the appartement of an old lady right in the centre of prague, for 15 euros a night, + smoking inside was allowed, which i loved, and it's like a real all inclusive apartment, your own shower, your own washing machine, dryer, freezer, fridge, oven, microwave, kingsize bed, kitchen, and your own router. luckily no tv. )
13. Berlin. (everybody should check out Berlin.)
these were just some tips, we visited 32 city's on last year's interrail, including these 13. so it's really doable, one more thing. don't go to Bratislava on a sunday, it sucks on sundays.
hope i helped you at least a little bit.
good luck planning or NOT planning the whole trip.
Daan.
