Hello!
We'd like to travel with a Spanish and a Portuguese Country Pass.

How would you put these destinations in a order:

Barcelona
Madrid
Seville/...
Faro
Lisbon

(possibly with night trains)

We'd like to start our Tour in Le Pin Sec, nearby Bordeaux. When reaching the Spanish border, we would use our Country Pass to reach Barcelona .
Then we would like to visit the South of Spain, spending our time flexibly in a town like Seville/Alicante/etc.
Afterwards we would like to visit Madrid,
with a connection to Faro.
Eventually we would like to reach Lisbon.

In each destination we are flexible concerning time and itinerary (just the final destination should be Lisbon).
However we prefer the cheapest method.

So, does anybody have experience with a route like this?

Thank you very much for having a look at it, this forum is a great idea.

Greetings, Hanni&Nanni

Hej Hanni&Nanni,

first of all, in what time frame do you want to do this route? If you can do Le Pin Sec - Barcelona - South of Spain - Madrid - Lisbon within 10 days, it might be worth getting a 5in10 Global Pass instead of two OC Passes. From Lisbon you could then go to Faro and back to Lisbon with regular tickets bought in Lisbon. With the 5in10 you could also cover the bit from Le Pin Sec (or more exactly from the nearest train station which should be Lesparre Medoc) to the Spanish border.
This could work out cheaper, but it depends on how much time you want to spend in Spain and how many places you want to visit.

Consider that you will need extra reservations for virtually all parts of your route: Irún - Barcelona: 6,50€, Barcelona - South of Spain: 6,50€/10€, South of Spain - Madrid: 10€, Madrid - Lisbon: 7€

You could use night trains for two legs of the trip: Barcelona - Granada and Madrid - Lisbon (in fact you _have_ to use the Madrid - Lisbon train as it is the only train each day).

If you decide not to use the Global Pass, it might be better just to buy a OC Pass for Spain and travel Barcelona - Madrid - South of Spain, then take a bus from Sevilla to Faro (or, if you want to minimise bus travel go just Huelva - Vila Real de Santo Antonio) and then with a regular ticket to Lisbon.

Since the costs of the OC Pass Spain are rather high, you might also compare prices to regular tickets bought in advance: :arr: https://rail.shop/acprail/renfe/
