Hello,
I know there are quite a few threads on here regarding this topic but I just wanted a bit of piece and mind regarding my trip.
Im going interailing with a friend in February. As this is low season, I am hoping that booking hostels wont be necessary in every place we visit but just wanted to check.
Our route is: Salzburg-Ljubljana-Zagreb-Budapest-Bratislava-Krakow-Prague-Nuremberg-Amsterdam-Brussels
The plan is to book hostels in Salzburg, Nuremburg, Amsterdam and Brussels. But we would quite like to leave the Eastern European leg of the trip flexible and open so we were not going to book any hostels.
Given the time of year we are going and the nature of the cities, do you think not pre-booking hostels will be ok?
Many thanks and apologies for repeating a well trodden topic
Alex

Hi Alex.
I am sure you will be fine, to book your hostels just one day in advance. I often book my next hostel the last evening I stay in a city before leaving. Easy via Internet. So I know where to go the next day in the new city - and I don't lose time.
You can book your hostels via [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] - for you the prices are the same, but railcc gets a very small commission to keep the servers running.
Please support railcc:
- buy your rail passes and tickets here on the recommended website: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
- add locations of your home-town (bars, nice places, ...)
Thank you! :)
Peter :)

Hej Alex,
as Peter said, dont worry. I've just been to Budapest last weekend (Wombats) and the hostel certainly wasnt fully booked so you could just show up and would get a bed. :)
Also, I have been travelling mostly in Western Europe each February for the last three years and never had issues with getting a bed (Lisbon, Granada, Rome, Palermo,...).
