Hi! I'm now planning my Interrail and one of the connections I want to do is Copenhagen-Amsterdam. I think the best option is taking the night train because it's the only connection without changes but, the train departs from Copenhagen at 18:46. My Interrail pass is the flexible one of 10 days. Can't I take this night train without using 2 days of my flexible pass, because of the 7 PM rule??
The first stop of this train is at Roskilde, at 19:11. I have thought I could go to Roskilde by bus or whatever and take the night train there. Is that the best option?
Thanks a lot!

Yes that's right :) there are different regional trains, that run from Kopenhagen, e.g. 18:17-18:49 or 18:36-19:02. The price is 45 dkr, round about 6 Euros :) check out: www.rejseplanen.dk/bin/query.exe/en

Thank you very much!! But now I have seen in the calendar of the DB BAHN website ( [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] ) that this train doesn't run on 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st March, that are the dates I want to travel. Is it possible????? That in the middle of the Holy Week, when there are a lot of tourism, it doesn't run???? :'( Someone knows anything about that??

no that's right. The normal doesn't operate at that days. I think there are some construction workings on the trail, that causes a different route in the North Rhine-Westphalia. So there's a different time of arrival in Amsterdam, but the start of the train isn't concerned.

Hej!
NatureOne already wrote all the important stuff.
In fact, this night train once was an exception (together with the Paris - Rome or Venice night train) regarding the 1900-rule: Although it departed at Copenhagen before 1900 you could use the 1900-rule. However, this is not possible anymore. :| I should inquire at CNL about this issue...
So, your best option to save one travel day indeed is to travel to Roskilde. However, for me personally it wouldnt make much difference whether you enter the CNL at Copenhagen or Roskilde since you pay the same price for your reservation anyway. If I get an answer from CNL in time I'll post it here. ;)
Regarding the dates of running of the train. CNL trains often have slightly different timetables on certain dates, as we mention at all timetables on railcc: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/copenhagen-amsterdam-cnl-40473/13
We cannot show all the details of these alterations, that's why we ask to check the timetables with a travel planner. These travel planners are usually based on the HAFAS database which usually is quite handy but is not really intelligent.
If you search the timings for a certain train and date, it shows you the timings and the days on which the train is running with exactly these timings. However, it does not automatically tell you that the train has an altering schedule on certain days. If you have searched the timings for the night train for an other date that the period you want to travel it is likely that it showed you some dates as red=not running.

I have found the calendar with green and red days: on DB BAHN website, I search for this train in that day and it appears in the results list but, it's written: runs not every day, Days of operation. Clicking there, the calendar appears and those 4 days I told are red while it has appeared before in the searching... :?:
Nevertheless, finnaly we have changed our route and we'll do this travel in the other direction: Amsterdam-Copenhagen, that hasn't got the problem with the 7 PM rule and the calendar says that on March 28th (that is exactly the date) is green, while 29th, 30th and 31st are red.
Thank you both for the help!!

Hi.
Like others wrote before, the night train Copenhagen runs EVERY day! Also on the 28th, 29th, 30th March, ...
Only difference at these dates: the arrival time in Amsterdam is 50 minutes later as usual.
We use here on railcc [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] as schedule planer (also a DB tool) with the same prices/times/trains/...
Please support the railcc project:
- buy your rail passes and tickets here on the recommended website: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
- add locations of your home-town (bars, nice places, ...)
Thank you. :)
Have a nice trip, Peter :)
