RENFE is the state-owned national spain big train operator.
FEVE was unitll 1/1 the also state owned narrow gauge operator (FErrocarril Via Estrecha=means the same), which mainly runs along the north-coast. Several chunks of it have in the past already been split off and set under local regional control Like in ET=-Basque or around Barcelona=FGC=Catalan).
In Spain there is el crisis-due tot he €€€€, and they need to save. So FEVE is now (both were established under the Franco regime before WW2) RENFE.
It is as of yet unknown if they also accept InterRail tickets. They still have an own pass-valid on FEVE only for 82€/30 days. Some very scenic routes between Ferrol-Oviedo-Santander-Bilbo are run, but only 1-2/day. ALso more frequent suburban short rouets around those large cities.
