hey.
Yes it's possible to make this route, but I would change the order of visiting.
So I think you want to take the ferry from Santander to Plymouth, am I right? And for the start of your trip?
I think it might be also possible to take the ferry to Roscoff (FR). So I think it might be better to start in Paris, rather than in Amsterdam :)
Otherwise the cabins aren't that cheap :D on the ferry. Maybe there are possibilities. Keep in mind the ferry to Hoek van Holland or the Bus trip between Paris and London (Euroliners). E.g. take the ferry to Hoek van Holland or Roscoff. Start in Paris or Amsterdam or finish in Paris. Therefore it might be possible to continue from Santender to San Sebastian (great beach :) ). From San Sebastian you can take a 20 min ride to Hendaye and take a night train to Paris.

It's quite a big route: 14 cities to go. Maybe you have a look at the ONE month continuous-ticket, so you have some time to explore the cities.
what exactly do you mean by how to do it? :D

I think my main worry is about making reservations for some of the trains, do they need to be done in advance online before i depart or can you make them at the station before you get on the train?

Hi.
Have a look at the connections, they will show you if a reservation is required or not:
https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
You can buy reservations during your trip. Also in other countries before, if you know your exact travel date. For example for your way to Auschwitz/Krakow, buy the night train reservation already in Berlin Central Station: https://rail.cc/en/berlin/berlin-central-railway-station/l146
And so on ... :)

Examples:

Paris - Amsterdam: you can travel for free - or pay the expensive Eurostar train - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/paris-to-amsterdam

Amsterdam - Berlin: free by day train - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/amsterdam-to-berlin

Berlin - Dresden: free by day train - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/berlin-to-dresden

Dresden - Prague: free by direct EC day train.

Prague - Krakow (Auschwitz): I recommend the night train, exit before Krakow in Auschwitz.
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/prague-to-krakow
Buy reservation for the day train in Prague. For the night train for example already in Berlin - or also possible in Prague.

Krakow - Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/krakow-to-vienna
Buy the reservations in Krakow (this fits for the day train), Prague or Berlin.

Vienna - Venice: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/vienna-to-venice

And so on ... also have a look here for night trains (https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train) and the types of train (https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation).

Support the railcc project:
- buy your rail passes and tickets here on the recommended website: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
- add locations of your hometown (bars, nice places, ...)
Thank you. :)

Peter :)
