Hi there,
I visited Bastogne last summer, it is a really nice place, with a lot of war related places to visit. This is probably the main reason for my visit, with a lot of history behind it from WW2, Battle of the Bulge. I cant help you with getting there as i traveled by a car from Cologne.

Another great place I've been to in Belgium is Ghent, I rented a bike to travel through it which came out to be great. Night life there is also good due to it being mainly a student city. Prices are also good in cafes and bars :) I would suggest trying some of the Gruut beer :)

Enjoy your stay there!

Brugge, Gent, Antwerpen are really nice (in that order)...for beach, any of the big resorts (Oostende, Zeebrugge, Knokke, Blankenberge) should do - although you shouldnt expect a small little beach all for yourself. ;)

Bruxelles is not as beautiful as the other bigger cities IMO but definitely worth a visit.

But if you dont have much time better go to Brugge and then decide spontaneously what to do next. The distances are very short between these cities which means you need a maximum of one hour or so to go to another place.
