Hello,

I'm planning a night trip (to save some money and time) using an Eurail Global Pass from Luxembourg Gare to Basel SBB departing on 16/03/2013 (20:14), arriving the next day at 06:47.

Bahn.de showed up, specifically for the 2nd change in Koblenz, a product either called CNL40419 (subject to compulsory reservation) or IC 61419 at 00:40.

My question is if there's a way to avoid reservations or supplements for this route (Luxembourg-Basel).

Thanks in advance.

Hej Evander,

you can use the route suggested by DB. Just take care to enter the correct portion of the train in Koblenz:

CNL 40419 is the Amsterdam - Zürich night train: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/eurail-night-train/amsterdam-zurich-cnl40419/16
Attached to this train are three regular 2nd class coaches which form the IC 61419 from Emmerich to Basel. You can use these coaches without an extra reservation. :)
