hi there me and my boyfriend are planning on getting 5 days travel in 10 day interrail pass and wondered whether it is possible to fit amsterdam, rome, barcelona and budapest in?
We would be starting in london, and wondered if it is cheaper/easier to get a flight to one of these cities first?
Thanks in advance!

Hej,
well...it should be possible, although it is not the easiest route to do with the 5in10.
Amsterdam - Barcelona: This is possible within one day, although you will have to pay quite a lot for additional reservations for Thalys, TGV and Alvia high speed trains :arr: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
In theory there would be another connection without Thalys :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-barcelona this is quite complicated with several changes at you should wait for the new timetables from December anyway.
I would recommend to go Amsterdam - Paris without Thalys, then take the overnight train to Cerbere or Latour de Carol and then go with Petit Train Jaune to Barcelona.

Barcelona - Roma: This is a veeery long trip which will take two full days - unfortunately the Barcelona - Milano sleeper train will be withdrawn in December.
Instead, you should go by ferry - this wont take any travel days of your pass since you only get a reduction. From Civitavecchia to Roma you can go by regular tickets which aint expensive.

Roma - Budapest: Possible with a single travel day if you take the night train to Wien, then to Budapest.
This means you could also go Barcelona - Roma by train however I would not recommend it because it would mean to sit two days on the train (including an overnight stop in Nice).
This also means you'd only need two or three travel days of your pass...you could use these to go either to Amsterdam in the first place or to add any other city in between (Praha, Wien, Firenze, Paris,...)
To go to Amsterdam you can either take the Eurostar to Bruxelles (not included in Interrail, get a regular ticket), then on to Amsterdam) or the Harwich - Hook van Holland ferry. I'd prefer these options over the plane anytime since they are much more fun and exciting than going by plane... ;)
