Hi InterRailers and EuRailers
According to information posted on the Eurail website,
As from December 2012 Elipsos night trains no longer operate on the following routes:
Discontinued routes of Elipsos night train
Barcelona – Zurich (EN 273/274)
Barcelona – Milan (EN 11273/11274)
The last service from Barcelona to Zurich or Milan is planned on December 6 2012. From Zurich and Milan the last Elipsos train will depart on December 7.
This will significantly affect the ability to travel by night trains between those countries.
Cheers
Richard :( :o

Is there an alternative to travel from Barcelona to Milan?

No. No real alternative. The fastest connection by day train is within 15 hours.
Barcelona dep: 0616
Milan arr: 2145

Options: like before with an overnight stop in Nice or Marseilles.

Or if you like it: by ferry from Barcelona to Livorno (https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/barcelona-livorno/25), then by train to Milan. There is a direct IC train (4:30h) which you could use.

Peter :)
