Hi there

I am currently planning a rail trip with my husband and our two young children (3yo and 5yo) for three weeks. We are flying into Dubrovnik, then flying to Zagreb for a few days before we start the rail leg. The cities we are wanting to go to are Ljubliana, Vienna and Salzburg, before flying back to London and then back to Australia. We will be doing day trips out from the cities, but will be basing ourselves in them.

Which order would you recommend visiting these cities? Are there particular routes you would recommend (keeping in mind we have the two young children)?

Should we pre-book all our trains, get a Eurail pass, or given we are travelling through October when it is a bit quieter, should we just book at the stations?

We depart London on 14 October, flying back in (from whichever city is our last) on or about 6 November.

Thanks in advance for your advice!
