Hi!
My friend and I are trying to plan the best route from Florence to Ireland. (Maybe Florence - Milan - Lyon - Bourdeux - Pariz - London- Ireland but still not sure). We bought 10 in 22 days interrail ticket.
If anyone of you have some suggestions or has been travelling the same route please advise us!
2 additional questions:
1. Is it possible to make reservations for the trains month and a half in advance?
2. What is the best (cheapest) way to go from Paris to London?
Two confuzed girls need your help :)
Thank you in advance!

Hi.
You have several options... do you want to travel the fastest way?
Or also have some stops in between?
As if you want to save money and see the amazing nature of the Alps, you have this option:
Florence - Milan: you can use free trains - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/florence-to-milan
Milan - Zurich: the free and scenic route trough the Alps - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/milan-to-zurich
Zurich - Lyon: first by Swiss train (no reservation fees) to Geneva, then by local train to Lyon (also free).
Lyon - Paris: possible by free regional trains - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/lyon-to-paris
Paris - London: have a look at the connections here. Either book a cheap special price Eurostar ticket, use a bus or the ferry. Do NOT use an Interrail discount ticket on this route as one way is EUR 75. Ridiculous expensive!
More information: https://rail.cc/blog/london-to-paris-by-eurostar-train-bus-or-ferry//
And finally, if you like railcc and want to support it, buy your official Interrail pass in our partner. Thank you! :)

Dear Peter,
Thank you for your help!
This route is okay but we changed something, also planning to visit Amsterdam.
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/paris-to-amsterdam
Does this mean that rezervation on this train is not required; so we do not have have to make the reservation at all for this route Paris -Amsterdam? So we just hop on this train and thats it, free of charge?
Is there direct line from Milan to Lyon? Also no additional charges?
We didn't mention the dates, so is this vaild for every day or where can we find which days do the trains go (we would like to start our travel from 20th of October) , and also we cannot see the train number on this link.
Do you have any advice how to come to Dublin from London with no additional charges (except for the ferry ofcourse) :'(

Hi,
the route Paris - Amsterdam you want to go is without any trains which need reservation - just hop on the trains. However, there are minor alterations possible to these timings on weekends so I would advice to check out the schedules for the date you want to travel here :arr: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Milano - Lyon is currently only operated by TGV services which require a whopping 55€ reservation fee...I would recommend to instead travel to the Mediterranean coast via Genova - Ventimiglia to Nice and then travel from there to Paris, which would be also possible overnight. Another alternative would be to go during the day via Switzerland although this would also require to pay 10€ for a EC train Milano - Geneve/Zürich/Basel and 9€ for a TGV Lyria Geneve/Zürich/Basel - Paris
Dublin - London is easy; in general you do not need to make any reservations within UK and Ireland, the only exception being the night trains from London to Scotland.
For London - Dublin go to Holyhead via Crewe - Preston, either by direct trains or by change of trains in the mentioned stations depending on time of day. I would recommend to travel in the evening, leaving London at around 7pm going to Holyhead directly from where you could take the night ferry which runs leaves around 0215 and arrives at Dublin Port at 0600 - that way you could save on accomodation costs.

thank you for your help flo! :)
One more question! From amsterdam to london, what do you think is the best way?
We were thinking to go from Amsterdam to Hoek Van Holland and than take a boat to Harwich and continue by train to London. Do you by any chance now how long will this journey be? And the prize for boat tickets from Hoek van Holland to harwick?
Thank you thank you thank you :)

Hi,
there are two Stena Line sailings each day:
Hook van Holland 1430 | 2215 (2230 on weekends)
Harwich 2000 | 0630
You can buy tickets at the port, single including 30% InterRail discount currently is 25,20 GBP. If travelling overnight you need a cabin, I paid 39 GBP for a single cabin this August.
Amsterdam - Hook van Holland takes 1h30.
