I've seen a few topics about this, but none are for fall travel and I don't know if things change after the summer.

I'm planning on traveling from Barcelona to Paris, and rather than take the ridiculously expensive night train, I thought the Little Yellow Train looked like a good idea. The problem is, I can't seem to find it on the bahn.de website. I'm particularly confused as to how to get from the Barcelona station to Latour de Carol, there doesn't seem to be a train that will take me there!

thanks so much for you help (and for this website!).

Hi,

the Petit Train Jaune runs all year through, the winter timetable is valid from today. You wont find the trains (either the Petit Train Jaune or the train to/from Barcelona) on the bahn.de website, only directly here on railcc.
Have a look at this blog entry which describes on how to get from Paris to Barcelona - and which is of course valid for the other way round as well :arr: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/

Thank you for answering so quickly. I don't know if this is a dumb question, but if the routes aren't on the bahn website, how can I go about finding out the times of departure for the trains? and how do I know which train is the correct one once I'm at the actual station? I keep finding all this weirdness in between the Barcelona station and Latour de Carol. The schedule on railcc says it's about a 3 hr ride, but on the bahn schedules it's like 18 hours!
Thanks so much for your help.

Hi.
Not all trains are included in the bahn schedule planer - the planer is based on the hafas database (used by several railway companies) and the data in this database depends on what hafas get delivered from all the European railway companies. So Barcelona to Latour de Carol is a local Cercanías and simply not included. You can check the Renfe website to find schedules. Therefore we run the railcc project, as you can find here the information which you won't find on standard websites.
By the way, you can also use [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
It's also based on bahn/hafas but the railcc version.

Details:
Departure station is Barcelona-Sants.
Final destination and as well the place where you have to exit: La Tor de Querol-Enveig.
In French language: Latour de Carol-Enveig.
And it is Cercanías Línea R3.

The connection shown on the bahn website is not the direct one, it is via Portbou and so on.
The railcc one is the direct and correct one! Why to trust always machines thinking giving you always the best and correct answer? Better to believe on humans (railccs) who travel Europe since more than 15 years by train, as well this route several times per year.

Peter :)

Hi,

well, the schedule planner on bahn.de can only show those trains for which DB gets data from railway companies in other countries (or, if they dont get any data, choose to include on their own). In this special case neither the Latour de Carol - Villefranche route in France nor the Latour de Carol - Barcelona route in Spain are included. That's why you get such complicated and weird looking results (I assume via Toulouse - Narbonne - Perpignan - Figueres).

For future travels I would recommend to get a copy of the Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable. It includes more or less all connections you will need during your IR travel.
The problem with online travel planners is that they are not intelligent and only can show you results which are in their database. But they cannot offer you smart connections which might save you some money on reservation costs or include a scenic railway which you would miss otherwise. So I would recommend to always ask here on the forum if you are in doubt about any route - we travel ourselves and know all the problems which might occur when using travel planners. And how to by-pass them. ;)

Oh, and if you read the blog entry I linked you should find all the links to the timetables you need - directly here on our website. :)
