Hello,
I would like to go on a Interrail trip next summer, and I'm thinking of the following route to take (I start and end in the Netherlands)

Berlin- (maybe) Prague - Budapest - Ljubljana - Venice - Firenze - via Milan through the Alps to Switzerland (Chur, Bernina express) - A city in Switzerland (Zürich, Basel, Bern, maybe a small town) - back via Germany
By the way, I don't want to sleep in Milan: I want to go immediately to the Bernina express.

I'd like to do this trip in 22 days; does anyone have any tips, suggestions for other cities/towns, or maybe nature parks? Every tip is very welcome, since this is my first time with Interrail.

PS: I was thinking to go to Lichtenstein after the Bernina Express, is this a good idea?

Looks like a good trip ;)
The Bernina Express is very nice :) We took the train ten days ago, and it was stunning :) We not exactly took the Express, because we stopped at the Diavolezza (mountain) to go over 3000 meters. But I advice you to get the express, because you don't want to stop in Milan and go straight to Tirano. So you nearly be on train for the whole day. (I think you'll need ~ 5 hours to go from Firenze to Tirano - 4:20 hours from Tirano to Chur). Maybe think of a stop at Lago di Como, which looks like a nice place, if you don't want to stop in Milan. I've never been to Vaduz, but it looks like a nice city. We only went to Zürich, which is a nice city too. I advice you to rush through the Switzerland, because it's very expensive. There's a route from Firenze via Bernina Express to Vaduz:

Firenze S. M. N. ab 07:55
Milano Centrale an 09:40

Milano Centrale ab 10:20
Tirano an 12:50

Tirano ab 14:04
Chur an 18:27

Chur ab 18:39
Sargans an 18:57

Sargans, Bahnhof ab 19:06 (via Bus)
Vaduz, Au an 19:32

You'll need 11:37 to go to Liechtenstein ;D
Otherwise you can take a train from Chur to Zürich or Basel :)

Ok, thanks for the reply!
Maybe I will make a 1-day stop in Lago di Como, or any other place, so I won't have to travel the whole day.
On the other hand, I don't really mind to travel the whole day, and, more important, I don't want to waste a travel day, since I'm going to buy the '15 travel days in 22 days' interrail card.
Also thanks for looking up the exact times! I assume that you used the DB-site?

Hi.
It's definitely an amazing trip. :)
Just wanted to mention: there is only a 10 in 22 days Interrail pass available or the 15-days continuous. To avoid miss-planing.

For schedules either the railcc ones, which will show you routes saving on reservation fees: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Or the DBahn-railcc schedule planer: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]

Peter :)

I think a 10 in 22 will be enough ;)
For my plannings I Used the links Peter mentioned. For the connections from Firenze to Vaduz I used SBB.ch because
Bahn has no Access to the Connection of Trenord (It Looks like this).

Oh yeah, sorry, I meant the 10 days in 22 card, my fault :os

But an other question: Do you guys think that I've chosen too much destinations/cities? Do I have to take more time for my destinations and maybe chose a shorter trip?

It's up to you :) You can choose how long you'll stay in a city. I come up with a route like this (just added Zagreb, because of a bad connection from Budapest do Ljubljana). Just an Idea (I only was in Berlin and Hamburg - so I don't know, what you can see in the other citys and how long you'll have to stay there, to see what you like to see):

Day 1: Netherlands - Berlin (arrival ~ early afternoon) Day 1 or Europa-Spezial (39€)
Day 2: Berlin
Day 3: Berlin
Day 4: Berlin - Prague (arrival ~ early afternoon) Day 2
Day 5: Prague
Day 6: Prague
Day 6: Prague - Budapest (via Nighttrain) Day 3
Day 7: Budapest
Day 8: Budapest
Day 9: Budapest - Zagreb (arrival ~ early afternoon) Day 4
Day 10: Zagreb
Day 11: Zagreb - Ljubljana (arrival before noon) Day 5
Day 12: Ljubljana
Day 13: Ljubljana - Venice (arrival ~ early afternoon) Day 6
Day 14: Venice
Day 15: Venice - Firenze (arrival at noon) Day 7
Day 16: Firenze
Day 17: Firenze - a place at Lago di Como Day 8 (arrival before noon)
Day 18: Lago di Como
Day 19: Lago di Como - Tirano - Chur - Zürich Day 9 (arrival in the late afternoon)
Day 20: Zürich
Day 20: Zürich - Hamburg (nighttrain) Day 10
Day 21: Hamburg
Day 22: Hamburg
Day 23: Hamburg - Netherlands Europa-Spezial (29€)
