Dear all,

I plan to buy a 5 in 10 ticket for the following route:
Starting in Vienna to Venice
From Venice via Milano into the swiss alps (here I am not really sure which route exactly to take: I thought about Milano, Tirano, St Moritz, Chur, Dissentis, Brig, Zermatt or so.
Then from Zermatt (or from somewhere else) to Geneve
And on my way back home to Hamburg via Strasbourg, Luxembourg, Amsterdam or so…
I have two big questions:
1) Should I make the journey Milano - Zermatt (or somewhere else in the Swiss Alps) in one day or in two? And if in two, where is the most interesting place to stay for a little longer on my way to Zermatt?
2) I am not at all sure about whether 5 in 10 is too little or too much (i.e. whether I can still include things like going to Florenz or Budapest) or in general spend more time in northern Italy.

Also, is it worth going to Venice now or should I instead go to BUdapest and then back via the Swiss Alps

Thanks a lot

Hi.
For the journey Milan to Switzerland have a look at this free route:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/milan-to-zurich
Also interesting for you: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/

Nice stops could be these two places in the Alps:
- Albergo Ospizio Bernina: https://rail.cc/en/ospizio-bernina/albergo-ospizio-bernina/l1139
- HI Hostel Pontresina: https://rail.cc/en/pontresina/youth-hostel-pontresina/l1138

Venice is nice but also expensive and full of tourists. I would prefer Budapest. But it might be too much ten for 5 in 10.
Then via Lake Bled (Slovenia), border crossing to Italy (https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/) to Milan.
From Switzerland via Strasbourg, Luxembourg, Brussels to Amsterdam, this is the best route:
