Hi!

My wife and I will have the one-country pass for Italy, and plan to take the ICN 774 train from Rome to Venice on Nov 15. I plan to pay extra for two couchettes, but there seems to be couchettes available in a space for four cuchettes together. That means that we both will be sharing a space with two strangers? Is there a space for only two couchettes? If not, I think it would more adecuate to just get seats... Too bad, because we'll need to get some sleep.

Well, travelling as a couple on Italian night trains is not very pleasant anyway since Double compartments (on services where a sleeper is available) require a first class ticket.
So, if you have only a 2nd class ticket you have to prepare for other travellers sleeping in the same compartment. Moreover, sleepers are separated by sex so a three bed sleeper is not an alternative either. :|

However, if you are looking to get some sleep, I'd definitely go for the couchette.

Thank you, flow!

But, wherever I look for information, there's no information about double-couchettes... I'm planning this trip very carefully, and it would be a shame to learn, once we get to Italy, that there's no double-couchette for the ICN 774 Rome-Venice on the night of Nov 15. First class, no problem... Do you know a way to find this out before we leave? Are you acquainted with Italian trains?

Hi,

this train only cosists of:

4bed couchettes comfort (refurbished old couchettes=
6seat compartments 2nd class

There _are_ no 2bed couchettes anywhere in Europe. :|
