Hello
I wonder if anyone can help me I am looking for a route from Brussels to Berlin by night on the 15th of August with no extra reservation fees I am aware that there is no longer a direct night train between these two destination so therefore this route will involve several changes, although I would rather spend as little time hanging around stations at night as possible.
It would also be great if someone could explain to me if it would be possible to reserve this journey online or whether I would have to book the various parts whilst in the train station?
Thank you very much for your help, Jacqueline

Hej Jaqueline,
I suppose you are travelling with an IR pass? But I am a little confused since you say at one point that you want to travel without extra reservations but then you ask where to get reservations online?
You want to travel in the evening of 15th August and arrive in the morning of 16th?
Probably the most comfortable option would be (no extra reservations needed):
Bruxelles Midi 1825 - 2130 Frankfurt/Main Hbf
Frankfurt/Main Hbf 2324 - 0651 Hamburg Hbf
Hamburg Hbf 0706 - 0846 Berlin Hbf
If you want to, you could also split the trip in Köln and spend an hour there to visit the cathedral which is just across the station (dont know if it is open in the evening but it is impressive nonetheless).
Or, take this connection:
Bruxelles Midi 1825 - 2015 Köln Hbf
Köln Hbf 2053 - 2311 Frankfurt Hbf
This is via the old line along the Rhine instead of the high speed line. In case that the latter train would be delayed, leave the train earlier to catch the train back to Hamburg - both run on the same line. Just ask the conductor. :)
