Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice, just bought a 5 days travel in 10 days Interrail ticket online and had two quick questions.
First, I am going to start out from Vienna where I am visiting a friend for the weekend, under pressure online I put my starting date as Sunday 5th August, this will be printed on my ticket now right? So to get best value I must leave on Sunday 5th to have ten days up to Tues 14th? I can't for example leave Monday 6th and come back Wed 15th?
Also, I have been looking at possible itineraries and think I will do Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana/Bled - Munich - SOMEWHERE ELSE - Vienna
Actually I have to be in Munich from the 10th - 12th August as I am meeting a friend there, but I would really love to squeeze in some time at a beach during my trip. Another friend who is considering coming for part of the trip thinks that Lake Bled could work as a beach/water type option, so in this case I am considering doing
Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana/Bled - Nuremberg or Innsbruck or Linz - Vienna
BUT, I would really love to try and make it to the adriatic coast, either somewhere like Trieste or somewhere in Croatia? However, I am thinking it might be a lot of travel out of the way for nothing and a bit of a waste?
For example, if I did Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana/Bled - Munich - Trieste or Rijeka or Piran - Vienna
So, long story short, wondering if anyone has any suggestions? What itineraries make more sense in terms of time but also what I will see, and where I should choose from the options I have thought of? Or even if there are other options that might work that haven't even crossed my mind?
Thanks in advance anyway, and sorry for the long post, but congrats on the site, it's been amazing help already :)

Hi.
If you select the 05.08.2012 in the railcc shop, it will be printed as well on your ticket.
And I hope you bought it here at railcc to support the whole project and not just a ticket outlet. Thank you! :)
So your ticket starts at the 05.08.2012 at 00:01h in the morning and ends at the 14.08.2012 at 23:59h at night.
If you want to go to a beach, check the schedules ... an option with not too much train travel could be the Lake Balaton in Hungary (area of Siofok) or as well like mentioned by you the Lake Bled area in Slovenia.

Thanks so much for your helpful reply Peter!
So after a lot of researching etc all day today I am now between two itineraries, do you think either of these is better? One of them is longer but gets me to the sea at Trieste and I think some nice views on the train ride via Venice and the coast? But staying inland I can go and see Neuschwanstein castle and Nuremberg if they are worth seeing? Just wondering what an expert's opinion would be :P
Itinerary 1 (via Nuremberg):

Itinerary 2 (via Trieste)

Oh apologies!
So here are my two options, would appreciate any feedback/advice on which to choose!!
1) Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana - Bled - Munich - Fussen/Neuschwanstein - Nuremberg - Vienna
2) Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana - Bled - Munich - Trieste/Koper/Skocjan Caves - Vienna
I have the 5 in 10 Global pass
Thanks! :)

Hi.
The 5 in 10 is not enough for none of these both trips.
If you travel the first one, you could do Füssen and Nuremberg as day trips by Bayern Ticket (Bavarya Ticket of Deutsche Bahn = German national railway): www.bahn.com/i/view/GBR/en/prices/germany/laender-ticket.shtml

Well actually, I was thinking of just going directly to Bled and perhaps paying for internal train to Ljubljana instead of using a travel day if I want to go there! And Fussen/Nuremberg as you said I was thinking I could do as day trips :)

Great! And so you think Fussen/Nuremberg will make a better experience than Trieste? I just think the scenery on the rail trip from Munich - Trieste via Innsbruck and then Venice could be really nice no?

Yes, it's a nice trip too ... but you have to decide for yourself what you want to see. :)
Here is a very nice trip crossing the Alps - but a bit beside your travel route. It is Milan to Zurich and free of extra fees:

For example start in the morning in Milan and then from Chur or Zurich to Munich.
